by Nate Hunter

GLENDALE, Calif. — The mall that opened in 1976 includes the first three-story Target in the United States.

GLENDALE, Calif.  — Glendale Galleria, the 1.5 million-square-foot super-regional shopping center, has begun renovations, which are part of a comprehensive redevelopment project.

The renovations will add new flooring in the Target Court, new hand railings, a chandelier and an elevator in the J.C. Penney Court and create an outdoor dining area.

A 120,000-square-foot Bloomingdale’s will take an anchor spot formerly held by Mervyn’s. New signage and graphics throughout the center will be introduced, and a bank of elevators will be moved. Glendale Galleria is owned and managed by General Growth Properties. Bloomingdale’s will open in fall 2013.
