Centennial Plans Additional Mixed-Use for Redevelopment of The Shops at Willow Bend in Plano, Texas

Plano, Texas — Dallas-based Centennial has revised its redevelopment plans for The Shops at Willow Bend, a 1.4 million-square-foot super-regional mall in Plano, to include townhomes and single-family residences. Centennial’s late 2024 acquisition of the Macy’s building at the center — following the retailer’s closure announcement of the location — has enabled the company to add the additional uses. Centennial had previously unveiled plans to convert the enclosed center to a mixed-use property called The Bend. Under the plans, a portion of the enclosed mall’s footprint will be demolished to make room for multifamily housing options, a hotel, a neighborhood dog park and carefully designed green spaces for relaxation and community activities. The Bend will also continue to offer residents and visitors a mix of retail, dining, fitness, and entertainment tenants.

The Plano City Council must still approve the project, which is expected to break ground this year and will be completed in phases. The Shops at Willow Bend and restaurants in The District will continue serving guests throughout the redevelopment.
