Chicago — The Boulder Group has brokered the sale of single-tenant CVS Pharmacy property in downtown Chicago for $4.9 million. The 8,781-square-foot store is located on the ground floor of a 180-unit condo building at 520 S. State St. Randy Blankstein and Jimmy Goodman of Boulder represented both the seller, a local real estate owner, and the buyer, a Southeast-based real estate investment firm. CVS has more than 10 years remaining on its lease.

Springfield, Ill. — Cleeman Realty Group has arranged the sale of Kent Plaza in Springfield for an undisclosed price. County Market anchors the 94,260-square-foot retail center, which sits on 9.4 acres. The property was more than 90 percent occupied at the time of sale. Michael Cleeman and Sam Seelenfreund of Cleeman brokered the transaction. A Maryland-based private investment firm purchased the asset from the property’s original owner.

Harwood Heights, Ill. — NARE Investments has acquired Harwood Commons, a 142,195-square-foot shopping center in metro Chicago’s Harwood Heights. The purchase price was undisclosed. Harwood Commons, located at 4701 N. Harlem Ave. and built in 1981, is home to Burlington, Marshalls and Aldi. CBRE’s National Retail Partners Midwest team represented the seller, Icahn Enterprises.

Chicago — McDonald’s Corp. has reported a 30 percent decrease in its consolidated revenue for the second quarter that ended June 30. The global fast-food chain reported second-quarter net income of $483.8 million, compared with $1.5 billion for the same period a year ago. Chicago-based McDonald’s says it spent more than $200 million on marketing support to accelerate recovery from coronavirus losses. Deerfield, Ill. — In its fiscal 2020 third-quarter results, Walgreens Boots Alliance Inc. said its performance was “significantly impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic,” causing sales to be roughly $700 million to $750 million lower. The decline is largely attributed to its international stores. In April, sales at Walgreens stores in the United Kingdom were down 85 percent. Deerfield-based Walgreens says that pharmacy volume was impacted globally by a drop in doctor visits and hospital patient admissions. O’Fallen, Ill. — GBT Realty Corp. will develop Shoppes at Richland Creek, a 53,000-square-foot retail center in O’Fallon, an eastern suburb of St. Louis. In March, GBT purchased the 17-acre site from Vantage Credit Union for an undisclosed price. Shoppes at Richland Creek is approximately 70 percent pre-leased to tenants such as Smoothie King, Chicken Salad Chick, Pacific Dental, Five Guys Burgers + Fries, Taco Bell, Burger King, Popeyes and Tidal Wave Luxury Car Wash. Chicago — McDonald’s says that U.S. same-store sales have sequentially improved from late March through May. For the month of May, the Chicago-based fast food giant reported a decline in U.S. same-store sales of 5.1 percent, compared with 19.2 percent for the month of April. Globally, sales fell 29.8 percent quarter-to-date through May. McDonald’s says that 95 percent of its restaurants globally are now open. Chicago — SVN Chicago Commercial has arranged the sale of the Chicago BrauHaus restaurant property for $3.1 million. The historic building is located at 4732 N. Lincoln Ave. within Chicago’s Lincoln Square. Tim Rasmussen and Marcus Sullivan of SVN represented the buyer, GW Properties. Matt Feo of Essex Realty Group represented the sellers, Harry and Guenter Kempf, who are longtime owners of the Chicago BrauHaus. The restaurant closed in late 2017 after 52 years.

Deerfield, Ill. — To provide greater access to COVID-19 testing and community resources, Deerfield-based Walgreens is working to expand drive-thru testing to 15 new sites in seven states. The locations include Arizona, Florida, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisiana, Tennessee and Texas.
