La Jolla, Calif. — The grand reopening will take place tomorrow evening at the mall.
La Jolla, Calif. — The $180 million renovation of Westfield UTC, an open-air mall in La Jolla, has been complete. The center will hold its grand reopening tomorrow evening. The 14-month renovation included renovated common areas to feature a new children’s play area, green elements and family lounges. The revitalization also consisted of complete paving replacement and new outdoor amenities. The dining area was also remodeled with new finishes, flooring, restrooms and additional seating. Along with the renovations, 40,000 square feet of space was added to the mall. The new addition included a 14-screen ArcLight Cinema, 53,000-square-foot Super Short Fitness Club, Seasons 52, Tiffany & Co. and J. Crew, as well an expanded Starbucks and Forever 21.
Technological improvements at the mall include free Wi-Fi throughout the entire common area and the addition of an LED screen. The screen is located in the heart of Westfield UTC’s Palm Plaza, providing videos, community news, weather and traffic updates for customers.
An additional 50 storefronts will be updated by the end of 2012. Westfield UTC is anchored by Nordstrom, Macy’s and Sears, and features the first location for several retailers including Splendid, Tesla Motors, Eureka!
