Gambrills, Md. — Eight stores have celebrated May openings at the 1.2 million-square-foot Waugh Chapel Towne Centre in Gambrills. The newest tenants to join the open-air development include a 50,000-square-foot Dick’s Sporting Goods, PETCO, Sports Clips, Massage Envy, Panera Bread, 5 Below, Sleepy’s and Visionworks. The center is anchored by a 137,000-square-foot Target, which opened in March, and a second anchor, Wegmans, will open this fall.
According to Greenberg Gibbons who manages the property, Waugh Chapel Towne Centre is the nation’s largest retail project currently under construction. When complete, the $275 million mixed-use development will offer 650,000 square feet of retail and 130,000 square feet of Class A office space. A 298-unit apartment complex, The Beacon at Waugh Chapel, being built by Bozzuto Group, will open in 2013.
