Austin, Texas — The new locations will be located in Los Angeles, Riverside, Ventura and San Bernardino counties.

Austin, Texas  —  Schlotzsky’s, an Austin-based restaurant chain known for its signature sandwich, has signed a franchise agreement to open 170 locations throughout California in Los Angeles, Riverside, Ventura and San Bernardino counties. This marks the brand’s largest franchise agreement in more than 40 years. The new locations in Southern California are expected to create nearly 7,000 jobs during the next five years.

Each of the new restaurants will feature a new design and upgraded service model where employees will hand deliver food to tables. As part of a co-branding deal with Cinnabon and Carvel, the stores will also offer items from each of the dessert brands.

The new partnership follows Schlotzsky’s signing of a multi-unit franchise agreement in May 2012 with regional developers to open 25 new locations throughout Orange County, Calif.

The company currently operates more than 350 locations worldwide. Schlotzsky’s plans to have more than 700 locations by 2016 with target markets including Atlanta; Charlotte and Raleigh, N.C.; Denver; Miami; St. Louis; and Nashville, Tenn.
