Yonkers, N.Y. — Online retailer Wayfair will open a 114,000-square-foot store in the New York City suburb of Yonkers. Located within Ridge Hill, a 1.3 million-square-foot mixed-use development, the Yonkers store marks Wayfair’s third large-format location, which is scheduled to open in early 2027. Wayfair’s first physical retail store opened in May 2024 in Wilmette, Illinois, while its second location in Atlanta will open in 2026. Roseville and Elk Grove, Calif. — Two new retail centers designed by Los Angeles-based Nadel Architects have opened in the metro Sacramento area. The properties are West Roseville Marketplace in Roseville and Laguna Reserve Marketplace in Elk Grove. West Roseville Marketplace totals 74,000 square feet and is anchored by a 55,592-square-foot Safeway. Additional tenants at the center include McDonald’s, Starbucks Coffee, Bank of America and Mountain Mike’s Pizza. Laguna Reserve Marketplace, which comprises 57,000 square feet, is also anchored by a Safeway.

Queen Creek, Ariz. — Creation, in partnership with Horizon Real Estate Ltd., has broken ground on The Switchyard, a $120 million mixed-use project in Queen Creek, about 40 miles southeast of Phoenix. The 10-acre project will feature 54,000 square feet of restaurant, retail and office space, as well as a 215-unit apartment community. Punta Gorda, Fla. — Kitson & Partners has signed 20 new leases at The Shops at Yellow Pine, a 120,000-square-foot mixed-use development located in the master-planned community of Babcock Ranch in Punta Gorda. The Shops at Yellow Pine comprises three multi-tenant buildings and two standalone outparcels. Additionally, outdoor seating areas are available for use throughout the development, which is fully leased. Atlanta — Cheeseburger slider concept Smalls Sliders has signed a franchise agreement to open five new units in Texas. St. Louis-based entrepreneur Brett Stewart will own and operate the restaurants, which are dubbed “Cans.” The newest locations in the state will include Killeen, Temple and Waco. Stewart will now own and operate a total of 11 units in Texas after signing an initial deal for six units with Smalls Sliders in August 2024. Founded in 2019, Smalls Sliders has a portfolio of more than 350 restaurants currently open or under development.

Manchester, Conn. — Bob’s Discount Furniture has announced plans to open 20 new stores in 2025. Among the 20 stores, six will be located in North Carolina, marking the brand’s entry into the Southeast. Bob’s will also open its first location in Vermont. Chicago — NewMark Merrill Cos. has unveiled plans for a $1.5 million renovation of Bricktown Square Shopping Center, a 292,309-square-foot retail center located in northwest Chicago. Renovations to the center will include exterior improvements, additional signage and wayfinding, as well as updated paint and color schemes.
