Owings Mills, Md. — Giant Food Store has opened a 66,730-square-foot store in Owings Mills, 17 miles northwest of downtown Baltimore. The new store, located at 10210 Mill Run Circle, features Giant’s Pickup service, a full pharmacy and expanded departments. Giant Food locations at 9934 Reisterstown Road and 9730 Groffs Mill Road in Owings Mills closed when the new store opened.

Hagerstown, Md. — Continental Realty Corp. has acquired Centre at Hagerstown, a 331,000-square-foot retail center in Hagerstown, for $23.5 million. The property was 93 percent leased at the time of sale to tenants including Dick’s Sporting Goods, Bed Bath & Beyond, Marshalls, Books-A-Million, OfficeMax, PetSmart, Regency Furniture, 2nd & Charles and A.C. Moore. Centre at Hagerstown is located at 17850 Garland Grosh Blvd., three miles from downtown Hagerstown, the county seat of Washington County. Danny Finkle, Jordan Lex and John Owendoff of JLL represented the seller, WashREIT, in the transaction.

Pasadena, Md. — KeyBank Real Estate Capital has provided a $26.6 million, non-recourse bridge loan to refinance Pasadena Crossroads, a 320,249-square-foot retail center in Pasadena. The loan includes funds for leasing and capital expenditures. The center was originally built in 1973 and was renovated earlier this year. Hobby Lobby, Art Van Furniture, LA Fitness and Sprouts Farmers Market anchor the property, which is 37 percent leased. Jacob Proctor of KeyBank arranged financing on behalf of the undisclosed borrower.

Bowie, Md. — New Market Properties LLC has acquired Free State Shopping Center, a 264,000-square-foot retail center in Bowie, for $72 million. The Giant Food-anchored center is situated 19 miles east of downtown Washington, D.C. Tenants include Ross Dress for Less, Tuesday Morning, Starbucks Coffee, T.J. Maxx, Office Depot and Sakura Japanese Steakhouse. Federal Investment Realty Trust sold the property.

Landover Hills, Md. — Nellis Corp. has signed five new retail tenants to Capital Plaza Shopping Center in Landover Hills, Maryland. The five retailers include Starbucks Coffee, AT&T, Tropical Smoothie Café, Quickway Hibachi and Inspire Nail Bar & Spa. The tenants will join Walmart, McDonald’s and an under-construction Royal Farms. Capital Plaza is situated at 6200 Annapolis Road, eight miles east of downtown Washington, D.C. Glen Burnie, Md. — Continental Realty Corp. has acquired Governors Commons, a 129,242-square-foot shopping center in Glen Burnie, for $16.2 million. Governors Commons was fully leased at the time of sale to tenants including Gavigan’s Furniture, Pep Boys, Sake Japanese Steakhouse, Goodwill Industries and Dollar Tree. The property is located at 7311 Ritchie Highway, nine miles south of downtown Baltimore. Mathew Adler, Geoffrey Millerd and Chris Huesgen of Newmark Knight Frank (NKF) arranged the transaction. The seller was not disclosed. Joe Donato of NKF arranged acquisition financing.

Baltimore — The first phase of Weller Development’s Port Covington, a 235-acre mixed-use redevelopment project in south Baltimore, kicked off with a ceremonial groundbreaking Monday, May 13. The Baltimore Business Journal reports that this phase of construction, dubbed Chapter 1, will cost $600 million to complete and span five buildings. Towson, Md. — Developers Greenberg Gibbons and Caves Valley Partners have signed Whole Foods Market to anchor the retail component of Towson Row, a $350 million mixed-use development in downtown Towson, Maryland. Whole Foods will occupy 45,000 square feet and include a 6,200-square-foot mezzanine and outdoor dining terrace.
