InvenTrust Properties Begins Renovation of 105,000-Square-Foot Shopping Center in Metro Atlanta

Newnan, Ga. — InvenTrust Properties Corp. has broken ground on the renovation of Thomas Crossroads, a 105,000-square-foot shopping center in Newnan. Kroger anchors the property, which will get a new façade, paint scheme, LED lighting under canopies, landscaping enhancements and sidewalk improvements. The Downers Grove, Ill.-based owner expects renovations to be completed by the end of November. Other tenants at the center include Great Clips, Subway, McDonald’s and multiple locally owned service and dining options. Retail Planning Corp. Opens Publix-Anchored Shopping Center Near Atlanta

Cumming, Ga. — Retail Planning Corp. has opened a Publix grocery store within Matt Town Center in Cumming on Friday, Oct. 9. The 48,387-square-foot store is located at the intersection of Matt Highway and Bannister Road, 48 miles north of downtown Atlanta. Other tenants at the center include Reveille Café, Laredo’s Cantina & Taqueria, Peaches & Pine, Great Clips, Alpha Nail Salon and The UPS Store. Hill Foley Rossi & Associates LLC was the architect, and RW Smith Co. was the general contractor.

Puttshack Breaks Ground on 25,000-Square-Foot Mini-Golf Location in West Midtown Atlanta

Atlanta — Puttshack, a technology-infused mini-golf operator from the same team behind Topgolf, has broken ground on a new location at The Interlock in Atlanta. The 25,000-square-foot Puttshack is expected to open in spring 2021. The property will feature four mini-golf courses, a bar and an indoor-outdoor rooftop patio. Colliers Negotiates $3.8 Million Sale of Grocery-Anchored Retail Property in Metro Atlanta

Stone Mountain, Ga. — Colliers International has negotiated the $3.8 million sale of Indian Creek Crossing, a 63,650-square-foot, grocery-anchored shopping center in Stone Mountain. Food Depot anchors the center, which was 88 percent leased at the time of sale to tenants including Family Dollar and local retailers. Savannah, Ga. — TSCG has negotiated a 33,191-square-foot lease for Planet Fitness at the former site of a Bi-Lo grocery store in Savannah. The property is situated within Crossroads Shopping Center at 2132 E. Victory Drive, four miles southeast of downtown Savannah. Current tenants include Starbucks, T-Mobile and The UPS Store. Michael Silverman of TSCG represented Sunshine Fitness, one of the largest Planet Fitness franchisees in the country, in the lease transaction. Papa John’s to Open New Regional Office in Metro Atlanta by Next Summer

Louisville, Ky. — Papa John’s International Inc. has announced it will open a new global headquarters in metro Atlanta by summer 2021. The Louisville-based pizza chain is in the process of picking an office space and expects to have a location finalized by the end of this year. Georgia Gov. JLL Arranges $18.6 Million Sale of Kroger-Anchored Shopping Center Near Atlanta

Canton, Ga. — JLL has arranged the $18.6 million sale of Hickory Flat Commons, a Kroger-anchored shopping center located along Hickory Flat Highway in Canton, about 34 miles north of downtown Atlanta. The 115,000-square-foot property was 97 percent leased at the time of sale to tenants such as Anytime Fitness, Mathnasium, furniture store Phillips Trading, Great Clips and Platinum Cleaners. Jim Hamilton of JLL represented the undisclosed seller in the transaction. Phillips Edison & Co. acquired the center as part of a 1031 tax exchange.

The Home Depot’s Sales Increase 23.4 Percent in Second Quarter

Atlanta — The Home Depot released its second-quarter results, which revealed the home improvement retailer saw a 23.4 percent increase in sales on a year-over-year basis. Sales totaled $38.1 billion in the second quarter, which ended Aug. 3. Because of the coronavirus outbreak and The Home Depot’s status as an essential retailer, meaning the stores have remained open through the pandemic, the company invested approximately $480 million in benefits for its associates, including weekly bonuses for hourly associates in stores and distribution centers.
