Sterling, Va. — Combined Properties has signed three new tenants, including two anchor leases, at Sugarland Crossing shopping center in Sterling. The three tenants are JOANN Fabrics and Crafts, Lidl and Tropical Smoothie Café. Sugarland Crossing is located at the intersection of Route 7 and Community Plaza in Sterling, about 30 miles west of Washington, D.C. JOANN Fabrics and Crafts will open in a 35,000-square-foot space previously occupied by Home Vivant Furniture. Germany-based discount grocery chain Lidl has signed on to replace the former Shoppers Food Warehouse in a 26,114-square-foot space this spring. …

Lynchburg, Va. — Liberty University will redevelop the West End of River Ridge, a university-owned mall, less than one mile from campus. The university will demolish the Macy’s building in the first quarter of this year and plans to turn the area into an open-air shopping center with a food hall. The renovated shopping area will feature higher store elevations and urban-esque storefront designs, as well as an outdoor venue for family-themed community events. Hampton, Va. — Branch Properties has sold Mercury Plaza, a 98,066-square-foot shopping center in Hampton. Walmart Neighborhood Market and Marshalls anchor the center, which is situated at the intersection of West Mercury Boulevard and Power Plant Parkway, 21 miles north of downtown Norfolk in Virginia’s Hampton Roads region. Richmond, Va. — A partnership between Auerbach Funds, Elevation Real Estate Group and Beechmont Acquisitions has acquired Parc Place, an 82,968-square-foot shopping center in Richmond. The sales price was $10.8 million, a discount to its 2016 sales price of $25 million. This marks the second acquisition since Auerbach Funds announced its first close for Auerbach Opportunity Fund III in mid-October. The fund has a target size of $100 million.
