Rockville, Md. — The Montgomery County Planning Board has approved additional development at Pike & Rose, a 3.4 million-square-foot, mixed-use project in the White Flint District of Rockville. The approval will allow Federal Realty Investment Trust to add approximately 1.6 million square feet of space to the 170,000 square feet of retail, 80,000 square feet of office space and 493 multifamily units that are currently underway. The development will begin opening in mid-2014.

The additional development approved for Pike & Rose includes six new city blocks, which will enhance the pedestrian-friendly nature of the transit-oriented development. The project will also feature Rose Park with a public gathering space for special events, along with feature fountains, gathering spaces and retail kiosks. Additionally, Pike & Rose will welcome 200,000 square feet of additional retail space, bringing the total retail to 350,000 square feet.
