Aventura, Fla. — Construction on a new, three-level retail wing and parking garage begins this year.
Aventura, Fla. — The 2.7-million-square-foot Aventura Mall located between Miami and Fort Lauderdale, Fla., is planning an expansion that will include a new, three-level, 241,000-square-foot retail wing and parking garage. Construction will begin this year.
The mall is owned and managed by Turnberry Associates. The renovations are intended to appeal to tourists because the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau has named Aventura Mall the most-visited shopping destination by tourists, according to Turnberry. It sees 30 million visitors per year.
Anchored by Nordstrom, Bloomingdale’s and Macy’s, the center features more than 300 retailers including Louis Vuitton, Cartier, Burberry, Red Valentino, Emilio Pucci, Philipp Plein, Sandro and Breitling. The mall opened in 1983. An expansion in 1997 doubled the shopping center’s footprint, and a 2007 addition included Nordstrom and a three-level wing of upscale stores.
