Leopardo Completes Center, Begins Second Project

Chicago — Gateway to the West Loop and Ravenswood Station include a total of 430,000 square feet.

Gateway to the West LoopChicago  —  Leopardo Cos. Inc. has completed the 190,000-square-foot Gateway to the West Loop and has started working on the 240,000-square-foot Ravenswood Station in Chicago. The properties, which are anchored by Mariano’s Fresh Market, have a combined construction cost of $77 million.

Gateway to the West Loop includes additional tenants ULTA Beauty, GNC, Massage Envy and Supercuts. The property features a multi-story atrium and a 157-space above-ground parking garage. Gateway to the West Loop is seeking LEED Silver certification through its green roofing system that reduces noise, conserves water and decreases stormwater runoff.

The $43 million Ravenswood Station will include tenants LA Fitness and Sears Auto Parts. The property is also seeking LEED Silver certification with sustainable features such as electric car charging stations and permeable paving. The development will open in January 2014.

Leopardo is the general contractor for the project, while Antunovich Associates is the architect. The developers include Seymore Taxman, Timothy Barrett and Gene Porto.
