Arlington, Va. — Lidl US plans to open 25 grocery stores on the East Coast by spring 2020. The 25 stores will be located in Virginia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and New York, including the first four in Long Island. Openings for the individual stores were not released. In conjunction with the openings, Lidl US also plans to close two stores in Rockingham and Kinston, North Carolina, this summer. Lidl operates 10,500 grocery stores in 29 countries. Lidl established its U.S. headquarters in Arlington in June 2015.

Westbrook, Maine — Cinemark Holdings Inc. will open a 12-screen venue within the Rock Row mixed-use development in Westbrook, Maine, a western suburb of Portland. The theater, which will be built from the ground up, is scheduled to open in spring 2021. Albuquerque, N.M. — Heslin Holdings has completed the redevelopment of West Central Plaza, a retail center located at 4208 Central Ave. SW in Albuquerque. Retailers at the property are now open for business. The company originally acquired the 150,000-square-foot retail center in 2015 with a large, vacant, single-tenant space. New York City — Rochester, New York-based grocer Wegmans will open a 74,000-square-foot store within the Admirals Row redevelopment project located on Flushing Avenue in Brooklyn. The grand opening is scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 27. The store, which will be the company’s first location in New York City, is expected to create about 350 full- and part-time jobs. Wegmans Brooklyn will carry more than 60,000 individual products and offer second-floor mezzanine space with a bar serving food, wine, beer and spirits.

Baltimore — The first phase of Weller Development’s Port Covington, a 235-acre mixed-use redevelopment project in south Baltimore, kicked off with a ceremonial groundbreaking Monday, May 13.
