Kansas City, Mo. — Developer Michael Zeller and his project team are underway on the redevelopment of Rock Island Bridge in Kansas City. The bridge is a historical landmark dating back to 1906 that is being transformed into a recreational space. Plans call for 11,000 square feet of multipurpose space for open-air food courts, a food hall with industrial kitchens, office, retail and 8,000 square feet of event space with a removable cover and open-air veranda. Meijer Grocery stores

Lake Orion and Macomb Township, Mich. — Meijer has opened two stores featuring a new, condensed layout in the Detroit suburbs of Lake Orion and Macomb Township. The stores, which comprise between 75,000 and 90,000 square feet each, include produce, in-store meat cutters, a bakery with cake decorators, full-service deli, in-store and drive-thru pharmacy, health and beauty products, card and party supplies, a floral section and baby, pet and household items. The stores also offer the same checkout methods and shopping technology available at other Meijer locations.

San Antonio, Texas — Nordstrom Rack and Chick-fil-A have signed leases at Northwoods Shopping Center, a 443,148-square-foot retail center located in San Antonio. Nordstrom Rack will open a 34,966-square-foot store in September. Chick-fil-A is constructing a 4,995-square-foot building at the property, a timeline for which was not announced. Other tenants at the center include H-E-B, Barnes & Noble, Marshall’s, Ulta Beauty, Old Navy, Chuy’s, Fish City Grill, La Madeleine French Bakery & Café, Red Robin and Regal Cinemas. CIM Group is the landlord.

Niles, Ohio — Bass Pro Shops will open a 63,000-square-foot Bass Pro Shops Outpost store in Niles, marking the seventh location in the state for the brand. Scheduled to open at Howland Commons within the Eastwood Mall complex in the second half of this year, the store will feature a custom design with localized nature imagery. Cafaro Co. is the landlord at the property.

Greenville, S.C. — Whole Foods Market has signed on to anchor Greenville County Square, a $1 billion mixed-use redevelopment project in downtown Greenville. RocaPoint Partners is the developer behind the 3.5 million-square-foot live-work-play destination, which will modernize and activate 40 acres along University Ridge. Bell, Calif. — NAI Capital Commercial has arranged the purchase of Atlantic Center Mini Mall, a 20,909-square-foot retail center located in Bell, roughly 10 miles outside Los Angeles. Steven Weiss and Sam Kangavari of NAI represented the buyer, a private investor, in the transaction. The buyer plans to redevelop the property, converting it to a single-tenant retail building, and the NAI team also negotiated a new lease with a national tenant.

Miami — Club Studio, a fitness retail concept and part of Fitness International LLC, has signed a 38,400-square-foot lease at Grove Central, a mixed-use development underway in Miami’s Coconut Grove neighborhood. A joint venture between Miami-based developers Terra and Grass River Property is developing Grove Central, which is expected to open in 2024. In addition to a residential tower and parking garage, the development will feature approximately 170,000 square feet of neighborhood-oriented retail space. Other retailers committed at the project include Target, Sprouts Farmers Market, Total Wine and Five Below.

North Richland Hills, Texas — Merlin Entertainments, an operator based in the United Kingdom, will open a theme park in North Richland Hills, a suburb of Fort Worth, dedicated to children’s entertainment character Peppa Pig. Houston, Katy and League City, Texas — Gordon Food Service will open six new stores in metro Houston, the first Texas locations for the brand. Gordon Food Service Stores provide food products, including packaged and fresh goods, to restaurant owners and other foodservice professionals.
