Omaha, Neb. — Lockwood Development, Century Development and the City of Omaha are redeveloping Crossroads Mall in Omaha. Demolition of the mall is currently underway and is expected to be complete in May. Plans call for a mixed-use project spanning 40 acres with 350,000 square feet of retail and restaurants; 250 apartment units; up to 500,000 square feet of office space and senior living; a 150-room hotel; and 2.5 acres of public space. The Grove at Towne Center

Snellville, Ga. — A joint venture between the City of Snellville, CASTO and MidCity has broken ground on The Grove at Towne Center, an 18-acre mixed-use project located 30 miles outside Atlanta. The $85 million first phase of development will include over 50,000 square feet of retail, restaurant, office and entertainment space alongside 262 multifamily units. In addition, Elizabeth Williams Library will be constructed, which is set to include a second-floor business development and accelerator space.

Stonecrest, Ga. — Hallmark Venture Group Inc. has acquired The Mall at Stonecrest, a 1.2 million-square-foot regional mall in metro Atlanta. The seller and sales price were not disclosed, but The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that the mall was last appraised at $84 million. Hallmark Venture is planning to transform the 29-acre mall site into a mixed-use destination that will include apartments, a sports and entertainment complex, cosmetic superstore, aquarium, medical offices, transportation facilities and restaurants. Myrtle Beach, S.C. — The Sembler Co. has announced plans to develop The Mill, a 46-acre mixed-use project in Myrtle Beach’s Carolina Forest community. The new development will include retail, office and multifamily space. Sembler is partnering with Hawthorne Residential Partners on the multifamily portion of the project. Sembler and Hawthorne expect to begin construction this summer. Frisco, Texas — AOS Panther Creek has broken ground on Shops at Creekside, a 20,130-square-foot retail project located at 13030 Preston Road in Frisco. Cross Architects is designing the project, and Talley Riggins Construction Group is the general contractor. Yonkers, N.Y. — Marx Realty, a division of Merchants National Properties, has broken ground on a 130,000-square-foot project for Target in the New York City suburb of Yonkers. The store will be located at the site of a former Sears that closed in 2019 within Cross County Center, a 1.1 million-square-foot open-air shopping and dining destination. San Antonio  — Houston-based developer Midway and private equity firm GrayStreet Partners have unveiled plans for Lone Star District, a mixed-use project in San Antonio that will be a redevelopment of the former Lone Star Brewery site. Brenham, Texas — Baker Katz has broken ground on Brenham Crossing, a 50-acre retail development located at the southwest and southeast corners of Highway 290 and Chappell Hill Road in Brenham. Five retailers are set to open within the 163,518-square-foot first phase of development, including Hobby Lobby, Marshalls, Five Below, Burke’s and PetSmart. Jeff Stein of Dallas-based CBRE Group Inc. secured financing for the development, which is scheduled to open next year.

Reno, Nev. — Parkview Financial has provided a $100 million loan to Reno City Center, an affiliate of Las Vegas-based CAI Investments. The funds will be used for the renovation and redevelopment of Harrah’s Reno Hotel and Casino into Reno City Center, a mixed-use project. Malibu, Calif. — Pacific Equity Properties Inc. has received $130 million in construction financing for Cross Creek Ranch Malibu, a 112,000-square-foot mixed-use development in Malibu, a beach city just west of downtown Los Angeles.
