St. Peters, Mo. — Pappy’s Smokehouse is the latest business to join the tenant roster at The Shoppes at Mid Rivers in the suburban St. Louis community of St. Peters. The 2,800-square-foot restaurant is expected to open by the end of October. This is the second location for Pappy’s, which serves signature dry-rubbed baby back ribs. GBT Realty Corp. owns The Shoppes at Mid Rivers, which opened in 2018 and is home to a mix of retailers such as Academy Sports, HomeGoods, Ulta, Marshalls and Outback Steakhouse.
Fort Lauderdale, Fla. — Whole Foods Market will open a 47,000-square-foot store in Fort Lauderdale on Wednesday, Oct. 28. The new location will be situated at 501 SE 17th St., two miles south of downtown Fort Lauderdale and within CURV, Ram Realty’s 243-unit multifamily community. The store will include a coffee bar featuring cold-brew, nitro tea, wine and beer. This will be Whole Foods’ second Fort Lauderdale location, with the first being located at 2000 N. Federal Highway.
Newnan, Ga. — InvenTrust Properties Corp. has broken ground on the renovation of Thomas Crossroads, a 105,000-square-foot shopping center in Newnan. Kroger anchors the property, which will get a new façade, paint scheme, LED lighting under canopies, landscaping enhancements and sidewalk improvements. The Downers Grove, Ill.-based owner expects renovations to be completed by the end of November. Other tenants at the center include Great Clips, Subway, McDonald’s and multiple locally owned service and dining options. Sugar Land, Texas — A development team by Houston-based Lionstone Investments will renovate Sugar Land Town Square, a 1.4 million-square-foot mixed-use destination located on the southwestern outskirts of Houston. Lionstone is partnering with Dallas-based creative real estate firm Rebees and Planned Community Developers on the project, which will upgrade landscaping and outdoor common areas to allow for social distancing and more public seating as part of Phase I. Houston — Pittsburgh-based Dick’s Sporting Goods will open a new, 45,198-square-foot store at Copperfield Marketplace, located at 16343 FM 259 Road in Houston. The grand opening will take place from Friday, Oct. 23 to Sunday, Oct. 25. Dick’s Sporting Goods will join Burlington and Med Express as the other anchors at the center, which is owned by Fidelis Realty Partners.
Yonkers, N.Y. — Target will open a 130,000-square-foot store at Cross County Center, a 1.1 million-square-foot retail power center in Yonkers, located north of New York City. Target has signed a 40-year lease to backfill a space formerly occupied by Sears. A partnership between Marx Realty and Benenson Capital Partners owns Cross County Center, which features more than 80 retail and restaurant users. An opening date has not yet been established.
Cumming, Ga. — Retail Planning Corp. has opened a Publix grocery store within Matt Town Center in Cumming on Friday, Oct. 9. The 48,387-square-foot store is located at the intersection of Matt Highway and Bannister Road, 48 miles north of downtown Atlanta. Other tenants at the center include Reveille Café, Laredo’s Cantina & Taqueria, Peaches & Pine, Great Clips, Alpha Nail Salon and The UPS Store. Hill Foley Rossi & Associates LLC was the architect, and RW Smith Co. was the general contractor.
Goodlettsville, Tenn. — Dollar General will launch popshelf, a new shopping concept that will offer seasonal and home décor, health and beauty must-haves, home cleaning supplies, party goods and entertaining needs. The Goodlettsville-based retailer says 95 percent of the items will be priced at $5 or less. Each popshelf location will average 9,000 square feet and will house up to 15 employees. Atlanta — Puttshack, a technology-infused mini-golf operator from the same team behind Topgolf, has broken ground on a new location at The Interlock in Atlanta. The 25,000-square-foot Puttshack is expected to open in spring 2021. The property will feature four mini-golf courses, a bar and an indoor-outdoor rooftop patio. The location will open at 1085 Howell Mill Road, three miles north of downtown Atlanta and two miles from an existing Topgolf location. Local firm S.J. New York City — ShopRite has opened a 70,000-square-foot grocery store at The Boulevard, a $200 million retail redevelopment project on Staten Island. Kimco Realty Corp. is leading the redevelopment of the 400,000-square-foot, open-air center, which will add retailers such as Marshalls, Ulta and PetSmart to its roster in 2021. The new ShopRite features specialty prepared foods from Valducci’s pizza, Loon Chuan Asian cuisine, Saladworks, Juice Press and Dunkin’ coffee, as well as onsite access to a registered dietitian and beauty consultant.
