Disney Proposes $1.9 Billion Expansion of Disneyland Theme Park in Anaheim, California

Anaheim, Calif. — The Walt Disney Co. (NYSE: DIS) has proposed a $1.9 billion expansion of its Disneyland Resort and surrounding neighborhood in Anaheim, south of Los Angeles in Orange County. If approved, the various new projects would be carried out within 10 years of the approval date, with the potential for another $600 million in capital investment to follow. The proposal, known as DisneylandForward, calls for new attractions and hotels to be constructed on the west side of Disneyland Drive. In addition, the theme park’s operators are looking to add …

Providence, R.I. — Entertainment concept Level99 has opened a new, 40,000-square-foot venue at Providence Place in Providence. Comprising 43 rooms, the facility offers interactive challenges as well as a restaurant, Night Shift Brewing Kitchen & Tap. Investment vehicle Act III Holdings, led by Panera Bread founder Ron Shaich, backs Level99. Brookfield Properties is the landlord at Providence Place.

An affiliate of ECL Water Street LCC, a Las Vegas-based company with 45 properties in three states, acquired the properties from Tim Brooks for an undisclosed price. The buyer company is led by Ron Winchell and Marc Falcone. Tim Brooks, former owner, will continue overseeing both properties’ day-to-day operations as general manager. Frederick, Md. — X-Golf America will open a 13,414-square-foot entertainment venue in Frederick, marking the company’s largest location to date. Situated within the 200,000-square-foot Westview Promenade, the store is scheduled to open this month. In addition to eight indoor golf simulators, the venue will feature full-service sports bar and restaurant. Greensboro, N.C. — Topgolf has broken ground on a new, two-level venue located in Greensboro. Upon completion, the site will comprise 72 outdoor climate-controlled hitting bays, with each bay featuring lounge furniture or high-top tables. Additionally, the venue will include a full-service restaurant, private event rooms and an outdoor area with yard games. The opening is scheduled for late 2024.

PENN Entertainment Breaks Ground on $185 Million Hollywood Casino Joliet in Illinois

Joliet, Ill. — PENN Entertainment has broken ground on the $185 million Hollywood Casino Joliet at RockRun Collection in Joliet. The casino will anchor RockRun Collection, a 1 million-square-foot mixed-use development that is under construction. Cullinan Properties is the owner and developer for the 310-acre project. The land-based casino will feature approximately 850 slots and 44 live table games, including a baccarat room, retail sportsbook, bars and restaurants, and an approximately 10,000-square-foot event center with meeting areas.
