Mount Pleasant, S.C. — Trader Joe’s has signed a lease to open a new store at Sweetgrass Corner, a 90,000-square-foot shopping center located in Mount Pleasant, roughly five miles outside downtown Charleston. The grocer will occupy 14,000 square feet at the property, which is owned by Continental Realty Corp. (CRC). Trader Joes, which operates more than 570 stores throughout the country, will be situated within a portion of the space left vacant by the closure of BI-LO in 2019. Chanhassen, Minn. — Minnesota-based Life Time Group Holdings, which operates more than 170 fitness centers throughout the U.S. and Canada, has completed a $40 million sale-leaseback transaction at one of its locations. The property was acquired by an institutional real estate investor that owns another Life Time facility. The proceeds will be used to “support growth and strengthen [Life Time’s] balance sheet,” according to a press release issued by the company.

Beaufort, S.C. —T.J. Maxx and HomeGoods have opened stores at Beaufort Station, a 200,000-square-foot shopping center currently underway in Beaufort. Upon completion, the property, which is being developed by The Morgan Cos., will feature nine anchor and junior anchor stores, including Hobby Lobby, Ross Dress for Less, PetSmart, Ulta Beauty, Old Navy, Five Below and Rack Room Shoes. Other tenants at the center will include Aldi, Parker’s Kitchen, Panda Express, Chicken Salad Chick, Surcheros Fresh Mex, America’s Best and Mattress Firm.

Wayfair Wilmette Store

Wilmette, Ill. — Wayfair has opened a 150,000-square-foot store at Edens Plaza in the Chicago suburb of Wilmette. Situated within a space formerly occupied by the Carson Pirie Scott department store, this marks the first brick-and-mortar store for the digitally native home-merchandise brand. In addition to furniture, home décor, housewares, appliances and home improvement products, the store features a restaurant, dubbed The Porch. Melville, N.Y. — New York-based A&G Real Estate Partners has announced plans to market 27 store leases in 12 states on behalf of music retailer Sam Ash Music Corp., which recently filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in New Jersey. Sam Ash’s total portfolio comprises 42 stores in 16 states, all of which will be closed while the company entertains buyer offers and completes its financial restructuring. Averaging 25,467 square feet, the lease sizes range from 6,000 to 44,000 square feet.

Aurora, Ill. — Seven new tenants have signed leases at Fox Valley Mall, a three-story shopping center located in Aurora, roughly 40 miles outside Chicago. UTime Gamers and FunBox are now open at the property, in spaces comprising 1,843 square feet and 25,000 square feet, respectively. Molly’s Cupcakes, DDC Wraps, New Beautee, hotRAGS and Showroom have also signed leases at the center. The concepts will occupy 852; 1,172; 1,686; 2,125; and 2,140 square feet, respectively. Centennial is the landlord.

Lake Grove, N.Y. — Fast-casual restaurant concept New York Fries has opened at Smith Haven Mall in Lake Grove. Recipe Restaurant Group owns and operates the brand, which offers an array of fries, as well as poutine and hot dogs. This marks the fourth restaurant to open in the U.S. this year for the concept and the second in New York. Units occupy between 250 and 350 square feet. Simon Property Group is the landlord at the property.

Fitness Factory is the tenant and will open a store within a space formerly occupied by Bed Bath & Beyond. A recently opened Boot Barn occupies the other portion of the former Bed Bath & Beyond. Silver Spring, Md. — Six new food-and-beverage concepts have signed leases to join Commas, a 13,000-square-foot food hall currently underway at Ellsworth Place shopping center in Silver Spring. 6 Skewers, The Champs Kitchen, Claude Have Mercy, Momo Hub, Nim Ali and Café Antigua by Nim Ali will join the food hall, which will feature 11 total stalls. Openings are scheduled to begin this summer. GBT Realty Corp. owns and operates Ellsworth Place, which totals 350,000 square feet.
