Marcus & Millichap Arranges $13 Million Sale of Grocery-Anchored Center in Metro Chicago

Des Plaines, Ill. — Marcus & Millichap has arranged the $13 million sale of Metropolitan Square, a 120,983-square-foot mixed-use center in Des Plaines, 25 miles northwest of Chicago. 

Sean Sharko and Austin Weisenbeck of Marcus & Millichap arranged the transaction on behalf of the undisclosed buyer and private seller. The property’s retail space includes a 40,000-square-foot Shop & Save Market, a freestanding Fifth Third Bank, a 10,500-square-foot strip center and street-level retail in a contiguous condominium building. Also included in the sale was a three-story, 22,000-square-foot medical office building and 155 surface parking lots. At the time of sale, the center’s retail and office space was 68 percent occupied. In addition to Shop & Save, Metropolitan Square is home to tenants including Tap House Grill, Panera Bread, Potbelly, Forever Yogurt and Elite Training & Fitness.
