State College, Pa. — CA Student Living, the student housing division of CA Ventures, and Liberty Mutual have commenced construction on RISE at State College, a grocery-anchored mixed-use development located near the Penn State University campus in State College.

When complete, the development will feature a mix of retail and amenity space on the first and second levels, graduate housing and professional residences on floors three and four, and student housing on levels five through 12. The residential component of the property will deliver 575 beds, and will offer a mix of studio, one-, two-, three-, four- and five-bedroom units with bed-to-bath parity.

Community amenities will include a hot tub and spa; an “active lounge” with gaming areas; a “passive lounge” with hammocks and a fireplace, a grilling and dining area and a television viewing area; a resident lounge; study room; gathering spaces; and a 24-hour fitness center with a yoga room.

The retail component will be anchored by a 16,500-square-foot Urban Market grocery store. RISE at State College residents will receive a 15 percent discount on all purchases made at the grocery store on weekends. Altoona, Pennsylvania-based Leonard S. Fiore Inc. will serve as the project’s general contractor, while Boston-based Shepley Bulfinch has been retained as architect of record.
