Time Century Holdings Breaks Ground on $35 Million Renovation of Metro Mall in Miami

Miami — Time Century Holdings LLC has broken ground on its redevelopment of Metro Mall in Miami’s Jewelry District. The $35 million project includes gutting the interior of the 225,000-square-foot building, adding a three-story atrium, security system, valet parking and creating a new façade. Miami-based Kobi Karp is the architect for the 94-year-old building, which Time Century purchased in 2018. Time Century is handling the leasing efforts and has already signed some leases with jewelers, according to Yair Levy of Time Century Holdings. The developer expects to reopen Metro Mall …

Topgolf to Open $25 Million Facility on Long Island

Holtsville, N.Y. — Dallas-based sports and entertainment company Topgolf will open a $25 million driving range and restaurant facility in Holtsville, a city located on the eastern part of Long Island. The facility will feature three levels of entertainment and dining space on a 26.6-acre site. The facility will be Topgolf’s first venue in New York and is expected to bring 500 new full-time jobs to the state. Construction is slated for completion in early 2021.

CMX CinéBistro Set to Open This Week at Wheeling Town Center in Suburban Chicago

Wheeling, Ill. — CMX CinéBistro is set to open at Wheeling Town Center on Friday, Feb. 14 in suburban Chicago. The movie theater anchors the retail portion of the mixed-use project. Alamo Drafthouse to Open 10-Screen Movie Theater in League City, Texas

League City, Texas — Austin-based Alamo Drafthouse Cinema will open a 10-screen movie theater within the Victory Lakes shopping center in League City, a southeastern suburb of Houston, in late 2020. The theater will feature oversized recliners, made-from-scratch food and a standalone lobby with more than 40 local and regional craft beers. The new Alamo Drafthouse will be the company’s first venue in the Houston area since Alamo Drafthouse LaCenterra opened in Katy in 2018.

Austin, Texas — Furniture Mall of Texas will open a 95,000-square-foot store at Shops at Tech Ridge, a 519,354-square-foot retail power center in Austin. The opening is scheduled for this summer. Lance Morris and P.J. Kaminer of The Retail Connection represented the landlord, RD Management, in the lease negotiations. The store will be the company’s third. Other tenants at Shops at Tech Ridge include Floor & Décor, Fitness Connection, Conn’s HomePlus, Ross Dress for Less, Burke’s Outlet and PetSmart. The company will occupy a space formerly leased to Target.

Topgolf to Open Second Charlotte Location on City’s North Side

Charlotte, N.C. — Topgolf Entertainment Group will open its second Topgolf venue in Charlotte by the end of the year. The new location will be dubbed Topgolf North Charlotte and will be situated at the intersection of Interstate 85 and University City, near University of North Carolina-Charlotte, Charlotte Motor Speedway and Northlake Mall. Topgolf North Charlotte will sit on 14 acres and is expected to create 500 jobs. Topgolf opened its first Charlotte venue two years ago at 8024 Savoy Corporate Drive in the southwestern part of the city.

Addison, Texas — Northwood Retail will reposition Prestonwood Place, a 133,000-square-foot retail center located at the corner of Beltline and Montfort streets in Addison, a northern suburb of Dallas. McLeod Sears Begins Seven-Acre Retail Redevelopment Project Near Corpus Christi

Portland, Texas — Houston-based investment firm McLeod Sears has begun construction on a seven-acre retail redevelopment project in Portland, a city in South Texas near Corpus Christi. The project will convert a site that previously housed an 82,939-square-foot Kmart into a 25,200-square-foot high-end shopping center that will also feature a number of restaurant and retail pad sites, one of which has been leased to Chick-fil-A. McLeod Sears expects to complete the project by summer 2021.

Houston — Fidelis Realty Partners is underway on construction of Brookhollow Marketplace, a 200,000-square-foot retail power center that will be located at the site of the former Exxon campus in Houston. Fidelis acquired the site in 2016 and has now completed demolitions.
