Centennial Unveils Green Space Vision for Two Malls in Illinois

Vernon Hills and Aurora, Ill. —Centennial has unveiled its new placemaking concepts at two malls in Illinois — Hawthorn Mall in Vernon Hills and Fox Valley Mall in Aurora. Centennial will transform the malls’ center courts into a multi-use environment that will enhance consumer experience. Centennial will invest $12 million into the courtyards, which total 31,115 square feet. The new courtyards will be surrounded by dining and entertainment options. The design team includes architect Stantec and general contractor Graycor Construction Co. A timeline for construction was not released.

Whole Foods Market to Anchor $350 Million Mixed-Use Development in Metro Baltimore

Towson, Md. — Developers Greenberg Gibbons and Caves Valley Partners have signed Whole Foods Market to anchor the retail component of Towson Row, a $350 million mixed-use development in downtown Towson, Maryland. Whole Foods will occupy 45,000 square feet and include a 6,200-square-foot mezzanine and outdoor dining terrace. Construction on the store is expected to begin this winter and take 18 months to complete. Topgolf Opens 50th U.S. Venue in Upstate South Carolina

Greenville, S.C. — Topgolf opened its 50th venue in the U.S. this past Friday in Greenville, South Carolina. The three-tier, 55,000-square-foot driving range and bar is located at 201 Clifton Court, 10 miles from downtown Greenville and directly off Interstate 85. The new Topgolf features a chef-driven menu, top-shelf drinks, big screen TVs, flexible private event spaces and music in climate-controlled hitting bays. Aldi to Open 19,230-Square-Foot Grocery Store at King of Prussia Center in Pennsylvania

King of Prussia, Pa. — German discount grocer Aldi will open a 19,230-square-foot store at the 119,000-square-foot King of Prussia Center, located 20 miles northwest of Philadelphia in Montgomery County. Jeffrey Cohen and Nelson Wax of CBRE represented the landlord, D&P Associates, in the lease negotiations. The family-owned business developed the mall beginning in the 1980s.

Confluent, Kelmore Break Ground on 140,000-Square-Foot Boulevard at Lowry Mixed-Use Project in Denver

Denver — Confluent Development and Kelmore Development have broken ground on The Boulevard at Lowry, a commercial mixed-use redevelopment project in Denver’s Lowry neighborhood. Situated on 1.5 acres, the infill development will feature 140,000 square feet of restaurant, retail and office space. A 25,000-square-foot Lucky’s Market will anchor the property. Additional tenants will include a 1,750-square-foot Logan House Coffee Co. Completion is scheduled for fourth-quarter 2020.

Conyers, Ga. — Tri-Land Properties Inc. has begun construction on the overhaul of Salem Gate Market, a 253,000-square-foot, grocery-anchored shopping center located 25 miles southeast of Atlanta in Conyers. The multimillion-dollar redevelopment will include a 55,000-square-foot Hobby Lobby, 20,000-square-foot Northern Tool + Supply, a 103-room hotel and an Allure Nail & Spa. CSW Development, USAA to Build Retail Center in San Antonio

San Antonio — A partnership between CSW Development and USAA Real Estate will hold a groundbreaking ceremony for La Cantera Heights, a new retail center in northwest San Antonio, on Wednesday, May 1. Construction of the first phase will begin immediately after the event. The current tenant roster — which will include restaurant, fitness and boutique retailers —will be announced at the ceremony. Alamo Architects is designing the project; Metropolitan Construction is serving as the general contractor; and JLL is handling leasing.

Foot Locker to Open 25,000-Square-Foot Store in Manhattan’s Washington Heights

New York City — Foot Locker will open a 25,000-square-foot store at 605 W. 181st St. in Manhattan’s Washington Heights neighborhood. The locally based athletic footwear retailer will treat this location as a “power store” that offers experiential activities like creating customized sneakers and gaming zones. The store is set to open this fall. New York-based Marx Realty owns the property in which the store will be housed.
