O’Fallen, Ill. — GBT Realty Corp. will develop Shoppes at Richland Creek, a 53,000-square-foot retail center in O’Fallon, an eastern suburb of St. Louis. In March, GBT purchased the 17-acre site from Vantage Credit Union for an undisclosed price. Shoppes at Richland Creek is approximately 70 percent pre-leased to tenants such as Smoothie King, Chicken Salad Chick, Pacific Dental, Five Guys Burgers + Fries, Taco Bell, Burger King, Popeyes and Tidal Wave Luxury Car Wash. Completion is slated for summer 2021.

Tucker, Ga. — Branch Properties will develop Hugh Howell, an 83,000-square-foot, Publix-anchored shopping center in Tucker. Publix will occupy 48,000 square feet, and Branch Properties will develop an additional 35,000 square feet of space across three buildings and two outparcels. The $19 million project will span 14 acres at the northeast corner of Hugh Howell Road and Mountain Industrial Boulevard, 15 miles northeast of downtown Atlanta. Dunwoody, Ga. — Branch Properties will develop Perimeter Marketplace, a planned 39,150-square-foot shopping center in Dunwoody. A 25,147-square-foot Publix will anchor the property. The developer expects to deliver the project in fall 2021. The 10-acre plot is located just north of Perimeter Mall, 17 miles north of downtown Atlanta. Young Contracting is the general contractor for the project, Phillips Partnership is the architect and Contineo Group is the civil engineer.

Oak Island, N.C. — Halpern Enterprises has delivered Oak Island Market Place, a 35,800-square-foot, Publix-anchored property in Oak Island. Publix occupies 28,800 square feet. The remaining restaurant and retail space is available for lease. The property is situated at 5001 E. Oak Island Drive, 36 miles south of downtown Wilmington. This is the ninth shopping center Halpern has developed or redeveloped with a Publix anchor and the fourth in North Carolina.

Houston — Locally based developer Gulf Coast Commercial Group is underway on construction of Block 14 at Garden Oaks, an 18,000-square-foot retail project the Garden Oaks neighborhood of Houston. The project is being developed on a 1.7-acre site just north of Loop 610 and is expected to be complete in July. Tenants that have already signed leases include McAlister’s Deli and Salata.

Atlanta — A partnership of local developer Ackerman & Co. and MDH Partners will soon begin construction of an $85 million multifamily, office and retail expansion to the Lee + White retail property in Atlanta’s West End neighborhood. The partnership acquired the 11-building, 433,204-square-foot property from Stream Realty Partners in September 2019 and began redeveloping the former industrial property as a mixed-use dining and beverage destination. Davenport, Fla. — Tailwinds Development LLC will develop a Publix-anchored shopping center within Champions Crossing in Davenport. The grocery store is slated to open in summer 2021. The new Publix will be located at 1200 Champions Drive, 30 miles southwest of downtown Orlando. Houston — Archway Properties has broken ground on a 22,016-square-foot build-to-suit retail project in Houston for Northern Tool + Equipment. The building will be situated on a freeway-fronting pad site within the 111-acre Park Air 59 mixed-use development on the city’s northeastern side. The store will be the Minnesota-based retailer’s eighth in Houston and is expected to open in the first quarter of 2021.

Arlington, Texas — Houston-based Gordon Partners has completed the remodeling of Green Oaks Plaza, a 100,000-square-foot shopping center located at the junction of Interstate 20 and Little Road in Arlington.  Movie Tavern and Sprouts Farmers Market anchor the property. The first location will be within American Dream in East Rutherford. The Glasgow, Scotland-based company specializes in doner kebab, which is a slow-cooked meat often served on a flatbread.
