Burger King to Invest $300 Million to Remodel 1,100 US Restaurants by 2028

Miami — Burger King plans to invest $300 million to modernize 1,100 U.S. restaurants by 2028, according to parent company Restaurant Brands International Inc. (NYSE: QSR). Each restaurant will be renovated in a new layout, called Sizzle, that emphasizes flexibility as well as the digital, pick-up and drive-thru experiences. Petersburg, Va. — The City of Petersburg has selected Bruce Smith Enterprise and The Cordish Cos. to co-develop a $1.4 billion gaming and entertainment district in Petersburg, roughly 24 miles south of Richmond. RD Property Group to Develop 122,000-Square-Foot Kroger Marketplace at Newton Springs in Lexington, Kentucky

Lexington, Ky. — RD Property Group is underway on the development of a 34-acre mixed-use development located in Lexington. The City of Lexington recently certified plans for the construction of a 122,000-square-foot Kroger Marketplace at the project, dubbed Newton Springs. Plans for the store include a drive-thru pharmacy, adjoining wine and spirits shop and 476 parking spaces. Other tenants at the property — which features two four-story buildings, a restaurant space and three additional buildings — include Estepp’s Shell, Jimmy Johns, Hot Head Burritos, The UPS Store, Tire Discounters and Starbucks Coffee.

Kansas City, Mo. — The Kansas City Current, a professional women’s soccer team famously part-owned by Brittany Mahomes, has unveiled plans for an $800 million mixed-use project on the Missouri riverfront in downtown Kansas City. The development follows completion of CPKC Stadium, a women’s soccer stadium that seats 11,500 people, in March. Tom Thumb to Open Store Within $120 Million Gateway Park Development in Texas

Sunnyvale, Texas — Tom Thumb will open a store in Sunnyvale, marking the “first major grocery store” in the area, according to the Town of Sunnyvale. Scheduled to open in late 2025, the grocer will join Gateway Park, a $124 million development that spans 240,000 square feet and features additional retail and restaurant space, as well as athletic facilities. The Sunnyvale Town Council has approved a $3 million economic incentive for the store’s development.

West Chester, Ohio — Graycor Construction Co. has completed the development of a 125,000-square-foot Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World store in West Chester near Cincinnati. The property features a fire watch tower, archery range, aquarium, exterior decorative water feature and boat showroom. Torgerson Design Partners was the architect. This marks the seventh Bass Pro Shops store to be constructed by Graycor.

Las Vegas — Partners Capital and CNR Retail have announced plans to convert a 100,000-square-foot office complex, located in Las Vegas’ Green Valley Ranch neighborhood, into a food-and-beverage-driven, open-air retail center.
