Roseville, Minn. — Dick’s Sporting Goods is set to open a new location at Rosedale Center, a 1.1 million-square-foot shopping center in Roseville, a suburb of the Twin Cities. The retailer will occupy a new building at the parcel formerly home to Herberger’s. Construction of the store has begun, with completion scheduled for late 2024. Upon completion, the property will feature a supermarket, fitness center, gas station and other retail and restaurant spaces. Groundbreaking for the project — which will be located within a 50-acre mixed-use development that includes an apartment community, business park, self-storage facilities and planned medical offices — is scheduled for the fourth quarter of this year. Phoenix — Harkins Theatres has announced plans for the development of Harkins BackLot, a 32,000-square-foot entertainment center at The Shops at Norterra in Phoenix. The new concept is inspired by movie studio backlots and will feature a full-service restaurant and bar, sports viewing arena, an arcade, bowling with digitally animated and enhanced lanes, an outdoor patio with yard games and a private event space with party and corporate event rooms. The development will span 1,400 acres between the Catawba River and Charlotte Douglas International Airport, including 500 acres of preserved land. Upon completion, The River District will feature 5,000 residences (single-family homes and apartments), 8 million square feet of commercial space, hotels and retirement homes. Minneapolis — Kraus-Anderson has begun a $2 million renovation project for Modist Brewing Co. in Minneapolis. Designed by Perkins & Will, the 7,000-square-foot renovation of Modist’s existing North Loop building will add new offices, a brewing lab, bar and event space. Lake Orion and Macomb Township, Mich. — Meijer has opened two stores featuring a new, condensed layout in the Detroit suburbs of Lake Orion and Macomb Township. The stores, which comprise between 75,000 and 90,000 square feet each, include produce, in-store meat cutters, a bakery with cake decorators, full-service deli, in-store and drive-thru pharmacy, health and beauty products, card and party supplies, a floral section and baby, pet and household items.
