Middletown, Ohio — Main Street Community Capital has unveiled plans for Hollywoodland, a 50-acre mixed-use development along the Great Miami River in Middletown. The city, which boasted a population of about 50,000 residents as of the 2020 census, is located 25 miles southwest of Dayton and 30 miles northeast of Cincinnati. Development costs for the project are estimated at $1.3 billion. The Middletown City Council met for over six hours this week to discuss the project with the public. 1111 W Addison

Chicago — Summit Design + Build has completed construction of 1111 W. Addison in Chicago’s Wrigleyville neighborhood. The four-story, 59,000-square-foot project features retail space on the ground floor and a fitness and bouldering center on the second through fourth floors. The 41,895-square-foot climbing gym is home to Movement Wrigleyville, a climbing, yoga and fitness center. Hirsch/MPG Architecture + Planning was the project architect and Clausen Management Services was the owner’s representative.

Manhattan West

New York City — Brookfield Properties has opened Manhattan West, an eight-acre mixed-use development located on New York City’s west side. Manhattan West includes retail, restaurant, residential, office and hospitality uses. The centerpiece of the open-air project, which was designed by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, is a 2.5-acre public plaza. Retail tenants include Whole Foods Market, The NHL Store, Starbucks Coffee, Peloton Store, City National Bank and Midnight Theatre.

Maricopa, Ariz. — Thompson Thrift has completed the development of a 23,000-square-foot Sprouts Farmers Market store in Maricopa. The property was designed by Nadel Architecture + Planning to better facilitate “click-and-collect” shopping, which allows customers to buy their groceries online and pick them up in-store or have them delivered to their homes through delivery services such as Instacart. Fontana, Calif. — Progressive Real Estate Partners has signed a new lease with Crazy Boss Big Discount Store at Vineyard Valley Center, a 285,000-square-foot retail center in Fontana. Located at 17099 Valley Blvd., the discount store will open this fall in a 103,157-square-foot anchor space that was formerly occupied by Kmart. Additional tenants at the center include Food 4 Less, Big Lots and dd’s Discounts. Paul Galmarini of Progressive Real Estate Partners and Justin Altemus of The Altemus Co. represented the landlord in the transaction. Galmarini also represented Crazy Boss.

Waltham, Mass. — Floor & Décor will open a 70,000-square-foot store at 80 Second Ave. in the western Boston suburb of Waltham on Thursday, Sept. 23. The store, which will be the retailer’s third location in Massachusetts, will include warehouse space and a design center. Floor & Décor has hired about 50 full- and part-time associates to work at the store.

Alexandria, Va. — Wegmans Food Markets Inc., a 106-store supermarket chain based in Rochester, N.Y., plans to open a new store at Carlyle Crossing, a 1.7 million-square-foot mixed-use development underway in Alexandria. Located just off Eisenhower Ave. at 150 Stovall St., the store is scheduled to open in spring 2022. The store will employ approximately 450 people, with 150 full-time positions offered.
