Sprouts Farmers Market to Anchor 75,000-Square-Foot Sonoran Creek Marketplace Near Phoenix

Maricopa, Ariz. — Thompson Thrift Retail Group, a wholly owned company of Indianapolis-based Thompson Thrift, has inked a deal for Sprouts Farmers Market to anchor Sonoran Creek Marketplace, the company’s $30 million retail center under development in Maricopa. The Phoenix-based specialty grocery chain is expected to open its 23,293-square-foot location in September 2021. Situated on 14 acres at the intersection of John Wayne Parkway and Edison Road, Sonoran Creek Marketplace will feature 75,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space. Lunds & Byerlys to Open 51,000-Square-Foot Grocery Store at Highland Bridge Development in St. Paul

St. Paul, Minn. — Lund Food Holdings Inc. has entered into a long-term lease agreement with developer Ryan Cos. to open a full-service Lunds & Byerlys grocery store within the Highland Bridge project in St. Paul. The 51,000-square-foot store is expected to open in 2022. It will offer an extensive selection of prepared foods, specialty products and two levels of covered parking. Burlington Opens New Store at Somerville Circle Shopping Center in Raritan, New Jersey

Raritan, N.J. — Burlington has opened a new store at Somerville Circle Shopping Center, a 150,000-square-foot property located at the intersection of Routes 202/206 and Route 28 in Raritan, about 45 miles southeast of New York City. Burlington has backfilled a space formerly occupied by Toys ‘R’ Us/Babies ‘R’ Us. Other tenants at the center include Staples, Petco, Jersey Mike’s, Burger King and Five Below. Levin Management Corp. manages the property. The square footage of the store was not disclosed.

Crosspoint Associates Acquires Land in Metro Boston for Retail Expansion Project

Framingham, Mass. — Locally based development firm Crosspoint Associates has acquired 2.7 acres in the western Boston suburb of Framingham for a retail expansion project. The site formerly housed a Colonial Nissan car dealership and is located adjacent to a Whole Foods Marketplace that will be expanded by 7,163 square feet to a total size of 43,617 square feet. Ocala. Fla. — American Commercial Realty Corp. will redevelop Pearl Britain Plaza, a Publix-anchored shopping center in Ocala. The Palm Beach Gardens, Florida-based developer will demolish the existing Publix, which was built in 1991, and build a new 48,387-square-foot Publix. Anchoring the 77,637-square-foot center, the new Publix will feature a drive-thru pharmacy. Philadelphia — Designer Shoe Warehouse (DSW) has opened a 15,616-square-foot store at Fashion District Philadelphia, a shopping, dining and entertainment destination in the Center City neighborhood. DSW’s opening comes on the heels of the debuts of tenants such as Kate Spade Outlet and Industrious, as well as the re-openings of Candytopia and Wonderspaces. Lidl Plans to Open 50 New Grocery Stores on East Coast by End of 2021

Arlington, Va. — Discount grocer Lidl US plans to open 50 new stores in nine states on the East Coast by the end of 2021. Arlington, Va.-based Lidl US will invest $500 million and hire 2,000 employees as part of the expansion.
