Lexington, Ky. — Hendricks Commercial Properties, a Wisconsin-based development and investment firm, has acquired The Summit at Fritz Farm, a mixed-use development in Lexington that opened in 2017. The project features a collection of more than 60 shops and restaurants that sit below modern offices and The Henry apartments. Some components of the project that were not included in the sale include the Origin Lexington hotel and a 192-unit seniors housing community, Legacy Reserve at Fritz Farm. Kentucky Smalls Sliders

Lexington, Ky. — Cheeseburger slider concept Smalls Sliders has signed a franchise agreement to open four new units in Kentucky — dubbed Cans — marking its introduction to the state. Local entrepreneur Bradley Scott and his team will own and operate the restaurants. Founded in 2019, Atlanta-based Smalls Sliders currently has 350 Cans open or under development and is active across 30 states. The first of the four restaurants is scheduled to open in early 2026, according to a company representative.

Atlanta — CBRE has arranged a $171.4 million loan for the refinancing of an eight-property portfolio of grocery-anchored shopping centers in the Southeast. Comprising roughly 1.2 million square feet, the portfolio was 96.6 percent leased at the time of financing to 194 tenants including Kroger, Publix and Whole Foods Market. PGIM provided the financing to the borrowers, Branch Properties and Corebridge Real Estate Investors (formerly AIG Global Real Estate). Grand Rapids, Mich. — Michigan-based food solutions company SpartanNash has acquired Fresh Encounter Inc. (FEI), a 49-store supermarket chain with locations in Ohio, Indiana and Kentucky. This move expands SpartanNash’s retail footprint by 33 percent and marks the company’s second retail acquisition this year, following its purchase of Metcalfe’s Market in April. FEI stores operate under the banners Community Markets, Remke Markets, Chief Markets and Needler’s Fresh Market and have been a food distribution customer of SpartanNash for 58 years. Located in Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, North Carolina, Nevada, Pennsylvania, South Carolina and Tennessee, the portfolio includes 10 Outback Steakhouse restaurants and 10 Carrabba’s Italian Grill restaurants, with one dual-tenant property occupied by both concepts. Lexington, Ky. — RD Property Group is underway on the development of a 34-acre mixed-use development located in Lexington. The City of Lexington recently certified plans for the construction of a 122,000-square-foot Kroger Marketplace at the project, dubbed Newton Springs. Plans for the store include a drive-thru pharmacy, adjoining wine and spirits shop and 476 parking spaces. Other tenants at the property — which features two four-story buildings, a restaurant space and three additional buildings — include Estepp’s Shell, Jimmy Johns, Hot Head Burritos, The UPS Store, Tire Discounters and Starbucks Coffee.

Lancaster, Ky. — Spirits company Staghorn is underway on the development of its first distillery, which will be situated on a 210-acre site in Lancaster, roughly 40 miles south of Lexington.  Dubbed Garrard County Distilling Co., the $250 million project will feature a 50,000-square-foot distillery, as well as two rickhouses and a visitor center with a tasting room and restaurant, with plans for up to 24 aging warehouses by 2030. The distillery is expected to create more than 60 permanent jobs and produce up to 150,000 barrels of bourbon each year.

Dubbed Hamburg East, the property will feature restaurant, hotel, apartment, retail and green space.
