Beaufort, S.C. —T.J. Maxx and HomeGoods have opened stores at Beaufort Station, a 200,000-square-foot shopping center currently underway in Beaufort. Upon completion, the property, which is being developed by The Morgan Cos., will feature nine anchor and junior anchor stores, including Hobby Lobby, Ross Dress for Less, PetSmart, Ulta Beauty, Old Navy, Five Below and Rack Room Shoes. Other tenants at the center will include Aldi, Parker’s Kitchen, Panda Express, Chicken Salad Chick, Surcheros Fresh Mex, America’s Best and Mattress Firm.

Goose Creek, S.C.  — CBRE has secured a $30.9 million loan for the construction of The Marketplace at Carnes Crossroads, a shopping center currently underway in Goose Creek, roughly 15 miles outside Charleston. Richard Henry, Mike Ryan, Brian Linnihan and Taylor Crowder of CBRE arranged the financing on behalf of the borrower, Columbia Properties, through a regional bank. Sumter, S.C. — First National Realty Partners has acquired Sumter Square, a 66,765-square-foot shopping center in Sumter, roughly 45 miles east of Columbia. A 39,365-square-foot Piggly Wiggly grocery store anchors the center. The acquisition of Sumter Square marks First National Realty’s entry into South Carolina. Columbia and Florence, S.C. — Slim Chickens has opened two new restaurants in South Carolina. Located in Columbia and Florence, the stores are owned and operated by franchisees Break Bread Ventures and Chandler Restaurant Group, respectively. This marks the seventh Slim Chickens restaurant for Break Bread Ventures and the second for Chandler Restaurant Group. Slim Chickens’ current portfolio includes more than 265 units in the United States, the U.K. and Turkey.

Mauldin, S.C. — Reedy River Retail at SVN Blackstream has arranged the acquisition of a 10.9-acre development site located at 1116 Ashmore Bridge Road in Mauldin, roughly 10 miles south of Greenville, S.C. The buyer, Atlanta-based Venture South Investments, plans to develop a Publix-anchored shopping center at the site. Dustin Tenney and Daniel Holloway of Reedy River Retail represented the buyer in the $4.6 million transaction. Marlborough, Mass. — BJ’s Wholesale Club, a Massachusetts-based operator of member retail warehouse locations, plans to open five new clubs in the Southeast and Indiana this fiscal year, which ends Feb. 1, 2025. The new clubs will be located in Maryville, Tennessee, a suburb of Knoxville; Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; Palm Coast and West Palm Beach in South Florida; and Carmel, Indiana, a suburb of Indianapolis. Lowes Foods anchors the property, which was built in 1997 and renovated in 2017. Other tenants include the U.S. Postal Service, Community Thrift and Dollar Tree. Lexington, S.C.  — Lowes Foods has signed a lease to anchor Platt Springs Crossing, a 50-acre mixed-use development currently underway in Lexington. Lowes Foods will occupy 51,000 square feet. Other tenants will include Chipotle Mexican Grill, Tidal Wave Car Wash, Panda Express and Planet Fitness.
