Pleasant Grove, Utah — Three new restaurant tenants have signed leases at Valley Grove, a $1.2 billion mixed-use development in Pleasant Grove. Upon full build-out, the project will comprise more than 1.5 million square feet of retail, office and hospitality space. The Great Greek Mediterranean Grill, Rancherito’s and Wildside Bowls are now open at the property, occupying a total of 5,498 square feet. Denver — Fast-casual food-and-beverage brand Smalls Sliders has signed a new, 10-unit franchise deal in Colorado, marking the concept’s first entry into the state. An entity doing business as Mountain Sliders LLC will own and operate the restaurants, which will be situated in metro Denver. Locations will include Boulder, Longmont, Greeley and Fort Collins, with the first unit scheduled to open in 2025.

San Diego — San Diego-based Jack in the Box has announced plans to open 15 restaurants in Georgia, marking the first entry into the state for the fast-casual brand. New sites have not yet been selected, but plans include a focus on the Macon, Augusta and Savannah markets. A franchisee will own and operate the restaurants. Jack in the Box also recently announced a commitment to 30 new units in Florida.

Lake Grove, N.Y. — Fast-casual restaurant concept New York Fries has opened at Smith Haven Mall in Lake Grove. Recipe Restaurant Group owns and operates the brand, which offers an array of fries, as well as poutine and hot dogs. This marks the fourth restaurant to open in the U.S. this year for the concept and the second in New York. Units occupy between 250 and 350 square feet. Simon Property Group is the landlord at the property.

Silver Spring, Md. — Six new food-and-beverage concepts have signed leases to join Commas, a 13,000-square-foot food hall currently underway at Ellsworth Place shopping center in Silver Spring. 6 Skewers, The Champs Kitchen, Claude Have Mercy, Momo Hub, Nim Ali and Café Antigua by Nim Ali will join the food hall, which will feature 11 total stalls. Openings are scheduled to begin this summer. GBT Realty Corp. owns and operates Ellsworth Place, which totals 350,000 square feet.

Orlando, Fla. — Red Lobster has voluntarily filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Middle District of Florida. The Orlando-based seafood restaurant chain plans to sell its business to an entity formed and controlled by its existing lenders. Red Lobster, which was founded in 1968 and operates some 600 restaurants across North America, has received a $100 million debtor-in-possession financing commitment from its existing lenders to facilitate this plan.
