Berlin, Vt. — Heidenberg Properties Group has rebranded Berlin Mall as Central Vermont Marketplace in Berlin. This comes as part of the property’s transition to a mixed-use development, which included the opening of Chesnut Place, a 98-unit senior living facility. Heidenberg has also added two new retailers, which occupy a total of 60,000 square feet. Five Below opened a store at the property in February and Hobby Lobby took over the former JC Penney anchor space in April. Enosburg Falls, Vt. and Somersworth, N.H. — Two Tractor Supply Co. Stores comprising 19,097 square feet each have opened in Vermont and New Hampshire. The two stores also each feature 20,000 square feet of outdoor display, retail and garden space. Subsidiaries of New England Retail Properties — both owned and headed by chief executive officer Matt Halprin — have completed the ground-up development of the two properties, following six months of construction. Stratton, Vt. — Big V Property Group has acquired The Village at Stratton, a 47,837-square-foot retail center in the Vermont ski resort town of Stratton. The Village at Stratton was fully leased at the time of sale to a roster of 20 tenants. Big V acquired the property as part of a portfolio sale that included The Village at Snowshoe in West Virginia and The Village at Copper Mountain in Colorado. The seller was not disclosed.

South Burlington, Vt. — A partnership between Taconic Capital Advisors and Eastern Real Estate has acquired University Mall in South Burlington, a city in northwest Vermont. The 617,000-square-foot property is the largest mall in the state. Local news outlet WCAX reported that the sales price was $60 million. The seller was not provided. Hummelstown, Pa. and Berlin Vt. — Heidenberg Properties Group is redeveloping two retail properties in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic. The Closter, New Jersey-based owner and developer is working to redevelop Hershey Square Shopping Center in Hummelstown and Berlin Mall in Berlin. Anchor tenant Kmart vacated 107,000 square feet within Hershey Square in March 2019.
