Brooklyn, N.Y. – The smaller-footprint urban Target concept will open at the 1.9 million-square-foot mixed-use center in 2016.
A smaller, urban-footprint Target, called CityTarget, which was introduced in 2012, will be joining downtown Brooklyn’s City Point, a 1.9 million-square-foot, mixed-use development in 2016. CityTarget will take 125,000 square feet of space and occupy the entire second floor of City Point’s 675,000-square-foot retail center. In addition to CityTarget, City Point also has signed Century 21 and Alamo Drafthouse.
Developers Albee Development, whose co-developers are Acadia Realty Trust and Washington Square Partners, say CityTarget’s addition to City Point reflects the strategy of providing Brooklyn with a retail destination that will offer an enhanced shopping and entertainment experience.
At 1.9 million square feet, City Point is the largest mixed-use development in the five boroughs, developers say. Construction began in 2010. In addition to the 675,000-square-foot retail and entertainment center, the project will include three residential towers—a 250,000-square-foot mixed-income rental building, a 380,000-square-foot luxury rental building and a 600,000 square-foot tower with a commercial base. Additionally, City Point will sit directly across from Willoughby Square Park, an under-construction public space that will feature a 700-car underground parking garage.
