Pompano Beach, Fla. — The Cordish Cos. and Caesars Entertainment Inc. (NASDAQ: CZR) are co-developing The Pomp, a 223-acre mixed-use development in Pompano Beach. The property’s name pays homage to the former Pompano Park racetrack on the project site, which is located 35 miles north of Miami and 10 miles north of Fort Lauderdale.
Upon completion, The Pomp will feature 1.3 million square feet of retail and entertainment space, as well as 4,000 residential units, two hotels and approximately 1.4 million square feet of office space. The project will include the existing Harrah’s Pompano Beach casino, which is owned by Caesars.
Cordish’s Live! brand will anchor the development’s entertainment and dining component. Called Live! at The Pomp, the brand will offer more than 25,000 square feet of food-and-beverage venues, including a Sports & Social and PBR Cowboy Bar.
Sports & Social will occupy a 18,000-square-foot space with features such as an LED media wall, emcees and DJs, live fan-cams, competitions and games. The 7,000-square-foot PBR Cowboy Bar will offer music, bars and a mechanical bull.
The venues will open into a central plaza that will host live music, family-friendly events, cultural celebrations, festivals, social activities and experiences and additional dining options.
“It’s incredibly exciting for Cordish to continue advancing this game-changing project with our partners at Caesars Entertainment,” says Blake Cordish, principal of The Cordish Cos. “The Pomp represents one of the most dynamic opportunities for placemaking in the United States. With Live! as an anchor, we are creating a high-energy dining and entertainment hub that will attract millions of new visitors from across the region and beyond.”
The Pomp will also be anchored by a three-level Topgolf location, which will offer 102 outdoor climate-controlled hitting bays a full-service restaurant, rooftop terrace, a patio, music, private event space and year-round family-friendly programming. Topgolf is expected to open later this year.
Cordish previously partnered with the Seminole Tribe of Florida to develop Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Hollywood and Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tampa. The Baltimore-based developer also has several other developments in progress in Florida, including Vivo! Dolphin Mall, a 62,000-square-foot entertainment district in Miami, and a 36,000 square-foot entertainment district at The Pointe Orlando, near major theme parks and across the street from the Orange County Convention Center.
The Cordish Cos. has developed and operates dining, entertainment and hospitality destinations throughout the United States, many falling under the Live! brand. These venues attract 55 million visitors annually, according to the company.
