Plano, Texas — JCPenney has announced it will close 18 full-line stores, including the three that were announced in January, and nine furniture and home stores this year across the country.
The Plano, Texas-based company said in its fourth quarter earnings statement that the locations “either require significant capital, are minimally cash flow positive today relative to the company’s overall consolidated average or represent a real estate monetization opportunity.” The final closing date for the full-line stores will be July 5 with the home and furniture stores closing in the fall.
