Katy, Texas — Katy, Texas-based Academy Sports + Outdoors has opened five new locations in the fourth quarter of 2025. The new locations include Russellville, Arkansas; Seguin, Texas; Fort Wayne, Indiana; El Paso, Texas; and New Braunfels, Texas. With the addition of these stores, Academy will have opened 24 new locations by the end of fiscal 2025. Originally founded in 1938 as a family business, Academy now operates more than 300 stores across 21 states.

Fort Worth, Texas — Atlanta-based cheeseburger slider concept Smalls Sliders has signed a franchise agreement to open five new units, dubbed “Cans,” in North Fort Worth. Local development group Slidin Thru LLC will operate the new locations. Smalls Sliders has recently opened additional units in Texas, such as El Paso, Tomball, Willis and Arlington. Founded in 2019, Smalls Sliders currently has 375 Cans open or under development and is active across 30 states.
College Station, Texas — College Station, Texas-based Layne’s Chicken Fingers has signed a franchise agreement to open 44 new units across Texas. Real estate and restaurant developer Eli Cohen will operate the restaurants.
