Bel Air, Md. — SJC Ventures has acquired the former Macy’s store at the Harford Mall site in Bel Air, roughly 30 miles northeast of Baltimore, with plans for a redevelopment. The Atlanta-based development firm will begin clearing land and preparing infrastructure at the site in early July. Dubbed Derby Place, the mixed-use project will span 94,600 square feet and will include a 35,000-square-foot grocer, complemented by 48,000 square feet of luxury boutiques, restaurants, shops and amenities. Plano, Texas — The Dallas Stars are planning to open a new hockey arena and mixed-use entertainment district at The Shops at Willow Bend in Plano. The team announced on June 2 that it had signed a nonbinding letter of intent (LOI), inclusive of design and construction plans for the arena and surrounding district, which could include sports-themed retail, restaurant and entertainment uses, as well as public gathering and event spaces. Charlotte, N.C. — Portman has announced plans for Savona Food Works, a 30,000-square-foot food hall that will anchor the company’s Savona Mill adaptive reuse project in Charlotte’s West End district. Maricopa, Ariz. — Legacy Development Partners has purchased a development site for a planned, ground-up retail center located in Maricopa. Construction on the property is expected to begin immediately. Dubbed Legacy on Porter, the 6.6-acre project will deliver more than 45,000 square feet of retail, restaurant and service-oriented space.
