Monroe, Ga. — Marcus & Millichap has brokered the $7.5 million sale of Paradise Shoppes, a 23,500-square-foot retail center located in Monroe, roughly 44 miles east of Atlanta. An unnamed private equity firm based in Tulsa purchased the shopping center in an all-cash transaction from the seller, a private equity partnership. Marc Irvin of Marcus & Millichap’s Atlanta office represented the seller in the transaction. Brunswick and Jesup, Ga. — Convenience store retailer Wawa has broken ground on two new stores in the state of Georgia. Scheduled to open later this year, the stores will be located in Brunswick and Jesup. The new shops mark the beginning of the brand’s expansion plans for southern and coastal Georgia, where it plans to build and open 26 stores over the next five to eight years. Seattle — Seattle-based retailer Nordstrom has announced plan to open 26 new Nordstrom Rack stores. Openings are scheduled to begin this spring and continue through spring 2025. The sites of the new stores include locations in Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio and Texas.

Gwinnett-Place-Mall_Duluth

Duluth, Ga. — Gwinnett County has partnered with CBRE to redevelop Gwinnett Place Mall, a beleaguered regional mall in metro Atlanta. The county purchased 39 acres at the mall, including a shuttered Belk-Parisian department store, food court and inline retail space, in 2020 for $23 million. Other stakeholders in the nearly 1.3 million-square-foot mall include Northwood Ravin, which purchased the former Sears in 2018, and department store owner-operators Macy’s, Mega Mart and Beauty Master. Kennesaw, Ga. — FrostPoint Capital has acquired The Shops at Shiloh Crossing, a 40,767-square-foot shopping center located in Kennesaw, roughly 30 miles outside of Atlanta. Conor Sweeney of Foundry Commercial represented both the buyer and seller in the $6.9 million transaction. FrostPoint plans to implement a complete renovation of the property.

Alpharetta, Ga. — Japanese ramen chain Kyuramen has opened a new restaurant in Alpharetta, a suburb of Atlanta. Totaling 4,200 square feet, the space can accommodate up to 110 guests. This marks the third location in the state for the brand, which currently operates 26 stores throughout the U.S., with plans to open 100 more restaurants by the end of 2024.
