Springfield, Va.  — Whole Foods Market will open a 49,499-square-foot store within Springfield Plaza, a 260,879-square-foot shopping center located in Springfield. The new store, a relocation of an existing Springfield store, will open in early October. The new space nearly doubles the footprint of the original Whole Foods, which has been operating for more than 25 years. Other tenants at Springfield Plaza include Trader Joe’s, CVS/pharmacy, Big Blue Swim, Party Depot, David’s Bridal, Starbucks Coffee, Chipotle Mexican Grill, Panda Express, Verizon Wireless, Inova, Phenix Salon Suites and Wells Fargo.

Woodbridge, Va. — A joint venture between Ideal Realty Group, Rock Creek Property Group and The Sigmund Cos. has purchased a portfolio of four regional shopping centers in Woodbridge for $52.8 million. The properties total 470,000 square feet and include Center Plaza, Mapledale Plaza, Forestdale Plaza and Glendale Plaza, all of which are located within three miles of each other along Dale Boulevard. Woodbridge, Va. — Kimco Realty has purchased Stonebridge at Potomac Town Center, a 504,000-square-foot shopping center located in the Washington, D.C., suburb of Woodbridge, for $172.5 million. A 138,500-square-foot Wegmans anchors the property, which was 96 percent leased at the time of sale. Tenants at the center include REI, Ulta Beauty, Starbucks Coffee, Cava, Firebirds Wood Fired Grill, Alamo Drafthouse Cinema and Apple Store, as well as boutique fitness, service and medical retailers. Chester, Va. — Colliers has brokered the $5.4 million sale of two outparcels at Bermuda Square, a shopping center located in the Richmond suburb of Chester. The properties include a multi-tenant space leased to Aspen Dental and Sleep Number and a single-tenant property occupied by Chipotle Mexican Grill. Separate buyers acquired the properties for $4 million and $1.4 million, respectively. Michael Brewster and Brad Peterson of Colliers represented the undisclosed seller in the transactions, with assistance from Jay O’Donnell and Jeff Fritz of Colliers.

New York City — The Necessity Retail REIT Inc. (RTL) has completed the sale of 44 properties leased to Bob Evans restaurants for a total $93 million. The restaurants are located in Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio, Michigan, Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia and Maryland. “With this sale, we have intentionally reduced our total portfolio exposure to fast casual dining to less than 2 percent from 4 percent, based on annualized straight-line rent,” says Michael Weil, chief executive officer of RTL.

Goodwill anchors the property, which was 95 percent leased to 17 tenants at the time of sale. Other tenants include Hertz, Papa John’s and DaaBIN Store. Buc-ees_New-Kent-Va

New Kent, Va. —Buc-ee’s has purchased 27.7 acres off I-64 in the Richmond suburb of New Kent with plans to develop the brand’s first location in Virginia. Upon completion, the Buc-ee’s Super Center will comprise 75,000 square feet of retail space, 120 fueling stations, electric vehicle chargers and more than 650 parking spaces. Construction on the project is scheduled for completion within the next 24 months. Nathan Shor of S.L. Nusbaum Realty Co. represented both the seller and Buc-ee’s in the land acquisition.
