New York City — Macerich has announced that Primark and Zara will be opening as part of a redevelopment at Kings Plaza, a 1.1 million-square-foot enclosed mall located in the New York City borough of Brooklyn.
The redevelopment will begin with the complete transformation of an existing Sears building, set to close in September. A three-story Primark will anchor the redevelopment, which will include a two-level Zara adjacent to the mall entrance; additional space for new retail and restaurant tenants; a new entrance on Flatbush Avenue with a four-level glass curtain wall; two new escalators and elevators; and building façade and exterior improvements.
Construction is set to begin in early 2017. Since acquiring Kings Plaza in 2012, Macerich has renovated key elements of the mall’s interior as well as the parking garage.
