by Abby Cox

Johns Creek, Ga. — Toro Development Co. (TDC) plans to break ground on the second phase of Medley, a 43-acre mixed-use development under construction in the north Atlanta suburb of Johns Creek. TDC and Denver-based Ascentris closed on a $90 million construction loan earlier this month.

The second phase, dubbed Encore, will feature an additional 408 apartments and 20,000 square feet of ground-floor retail. TDC has also added seven tenants to its lineup, bringing the total number of executed leases to 37, which represents 78 percent of the project’s retail space and 82 percent of the office space. Newly signed retailers include Warby Parker, Tabla, Hollow Oak, The Nest Café, CT Cantina & Tacqueria, The Commodore and 13 Hub Lane.

The recently added concepts join a roster of retailers and restaurants such as Trader Joe’s, Shake Shack, Sephora, STIR and Tonic House, Rena’s Italian Fishery & Grill, Fogón and Lions, High Country Outfitters, BODYROK, Northern China Eatery, Playa Bowls, Petfolk, CRÚ Food & Wine Bar, Fadó Irish Pub, Summit Coffee, Lily Sushi Bar, Knuckies Hoagies, Kontour Med Spa and Cookie Fix, among others.

Upon full build out, Medley will encompass 145,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space; 881 luxury apartments; a 150-key boutique hotel; 110,000 square feet of office space; and a 25,000-square-foot public plaza that will be activated with up to 200 events per year.

Medley’s first phase, including office space, 340 multifamily residences and 125,000 square feet of retail, will open by Oct. 29. Its second phase, Encore, will open in 2027, with the hotel scheduled for opening in 2028.
