New York City — Asian cuisine concept wagamama has opened a 6,836-square-foot restaurant in Midtown Manhattan. The new restaurant is located at 100 W. 55th St. and offers 185 seats. The chain’s parent company, The Restaurant Group, has entered a U.S. joint venture partnership with Conversion Venture Capital (CVC2) as financial partners and Robert Cornog Jr. and Richard Flaherty as operating partners. Norwalk, Conn. — Bob’s Discount Furniture has opened a 30,000-square-foot store in Norwalk, a western suburb of Bridgeport. The Manchester, Connecticut-based retailer operates 122 stores across 18 states. The store, which is Bob’s ninth in Connecticut, is located at 59 Connecticut Ave. The building was formerly leased to Toys ‘R’ Us. Benderson Development acquired the property during the toy retailer’s asset liquidation.
St. Johns, Fla. — The Ferber Co. will develop Durbin Creek Crossing, a 70-acre shopping center in the south Jacksonville suburb of St. Johns. Ferber is scheduled to break ground this summer and expects to deliver the asset by fall 2021. The property will offer 250,000 square feet of retail space across 10 outparcels sized between 0.8 and 2.6 acres. Ferber has signed Aldi to a 19,000-square-foot lease. Wilmington, Del. — Sprouts Farmers Market will open a 30,000-square-foot grocery store in Wilmington, located approximately 30 miles southwest of Philadelphia. The Arizona-based grocery chain offers organic produce, an expansive bulk foods selections and an extensive vitamin department. Located at 4727 Concord Pike, the new store will bring 140 full- and part-time jobs to the area. The opening is scheduled for March 11.
Waco, Texas — Dallas-based sports entertainment company Topgolf has signed a lease at Cottonwood Creek Market, a 285,000-square-foot entertainment destination in Waco that is scheduled to open this winter. Topgolf joins Cinemark, which will open a 14-screen theater, as the second of three entertainment anchors at Cottonwood Creek Market. Houston-based developer NewQuest Properties commenced site work on the project last summer and is in talks with a bowling and dining concept to potentially serve as the third anchor. CBL Properties Unveils Redevelopment Plans for Former Herberger’s Store in Bismarck, North Dakota
Bismarck, N.D. — CBL Properties has unveiled the first phase of redevelopment plans for the former Herberger’s department store at Kirkwood Mall in Bismarck. Three fast-casual restaurants, including Five Guys, Blaze Pizza and Chick-fil-A, will join the mall. As part of the project, roughly 40,000 square feet of the former Herberger’s will be demolished. The remaining 52,000 square feet will be utilized in future phases of redevelopment. An additional pad site will be created in the parking area. Construction is set to begin this spring.
Time Century Holdings Breaks Ground on $35 Million Renovation of Metro Mall in Miami
Miami — Time Century Holdings LLC has broken ground on its redevelopment of Metro Mall in Miami’s Jewelry District. The $35 million project includes gutting the interior of the 225,000-square-foot building, adding a three-story atrium, security system, valet parking and creating a new façade. Miami-based Kobi Karp is the architect for the 94-year-old building, which Time Century purchased in 2018. Time Century is handling the leasing efforts and has already signed some leases with jewelers, according to Yair Levy of Time Century Holdings. The developer expects to reopen Metro Mall …
Holtsville, N.Y. — Dallas-based sports and entertainment company Topgolf will open a $25 million driving range and restaurant facility in Holtsville, a city located on the eastern part of Long Island. The facility will feature three levels of entertainment and dining space on a 26.6-acre site. The facility will be Topgolf’s first venue in New York and is expected to bring 500 new full-time jobs to the state. Construction is slated for completion in early 2021.
Wheeling, Ill. — CMX CinéBistro is set to open at Wheeling Town Center on Friday, Feb. 14 in suburban Chicago. The movie theater anchors the retail portion of the mixed-use project. Spanning 40,000 square feet CMX CinéBistro Wheeling will offer a bar and lounge area, seven screens, reclining seats and tables for food and beverage service. League City, Texas — Austin-based Alamo Drafthouse Cinema will open a 10-screen movie theater within the Victory Lakes shopping center in League City, a southeastern suburb of Houston, in late 2020. The theater will feature oversized recliners, made-from-scratch food and a standalone lobby with more than 40 local and regional craft beers. The new Alamo Drafthouse will be the company’s first venue in the Houston area since Alamo Drafthouse LaCenterra opened in Katy in 2018.
