Mesa, Ariz. — Peak Southern LLC has purchased a 5.8-acre land site in the Phoenix suburb of Mesa. Signal Butte & Southern LLC sold the property for $3 million. John Jackson and Kristina Remon of Colliers in Arizona arranged the transaction. The buyer plans to develop a retail center on the property. According to Colliers, the property will be divided into three pad sites that are available for purchase, build-to-suit or ground lease, and the construction schedule will be dependent upon the execution of purchases and leases.
Buckeye, Ariz. — Sunbelt Investment Holdings (SIHI) has broken ground on Buckeye Commons, a 410,000-square-foot retail center in Buckeye, a suburb west of Phoenix. Butler Design Group designed the project, with CHASSE Building Team serving as the general contractor. Tenants at the property will include Over Easy, Starbucks Coffee, Jimmy John’s, The Joint Chiropractic, State Farm and DIP Nail Bar, in addition to a 160,938-square-foot Costco that opened in July 2023. Dallas — H-E-B has broken ground on a 55,000-square-foot Joe V’s Smart Shop in Dallas. Scheduled to open in spring 2025, this marks the second Joe V’s-branded store in the city. Construction is currently underway at the other Dallas location, with an opening scheduled for summer of this year.
Fort Lauderdale, Fla. — Hines and partners Urban Street Development, Cresset Real Estate, Las Americas, Hudson Capital and Halmos Holdings have broken ground on FAT Village, a 5.6-acre mixed-use project located in Fort Lauderdale. McKinney, Texas —Hospitality and entertainment operator Notes Live will open Sunset Amphitheater, a $220 million live music and entertainment venue, in the northern Dallas suburb of McKinney. Situated on a 46-acre site, the venue will have the capacity to house about 20,000 people and will feature more than 250 luxury firepit suites, owners club seats and traditional reserved seats in the middle and lower levels of the bowl. Johns Creek, Ga. — Toro Development Co. has acquired 43 acres in the northern Atlanta suburb of Johns Creek for its upcoming Medley mixed-use development. Toro purchased the parcel for $44 million. Currently, the property features a four-story office building, as well as the site of another, demolished office building and surface parking. South Fayette Township, Pa. — Bass Pro Shops will open a 100,000-square-foot Outdoor World store in South Fayette Township, roughly 15 miles outside Pittsburgh. Upon completion, the store will comprise two levels and feature a gift and nature center, in addition to outdoor gear and apparel. The store, which is scheduled to open in early 2026, will mark the third in the state for the company.
Atlanta — Atlanta-based cheeseburger concept Smalls Sliders has signed a franchise deal for five new units in Kansas. Family-operated franchise team Jim, Teresa and Colton Sorlie will own and operate the restaurants. Locations in the state will include Wichita, Manhattan and Salina. The first of the units, referred to as “Cans,” is scheduled to open in early 2025.
