Vestar to Break Ground on Phase 2 of Vineyard Towne Center in Metro Phoenix

Queen Creek, Ariz. — Vestar has announced plans to break ground this month on Phase 2 of construction at Vineyard Towne Center in Queen Creek, roughly 40 miles outside Phoenix. Upon completion, Vineyard Towne Center will comprise 260,000 square feet. Tenants at Phase 2, which is fully leased and scheduled to open in fall 2025, include Target, McDonald’s, Verizon, Petco, Mattress Firm, My Dr. Now, Better Buzz Coffee, Zaxby’s, Ono Hawaiian BBQ and Mountain America Credit Union. Sterling Heights, Mich. — Lionheart Capital has unveiled plans for the $1 billion mixed-use redevelopment of Lakeside Mall in the Detroit suburb of Sterling Heights. Miami — Burger King plans to invest $300 million to modernize 1,100 U.S. restaurants by 2028, according to parent company Restaurant Brands International Inc. (NYSE: QSR). Lexington, Ky. — RD Property Group is underway on the development of a 34-acre mixed-use development located in Lexington. The City of Lexington recently certified plans for the construction of a 122,000-square-foot Kroger Marketplace at the project, dubbed Newton Springs. Plans for the store include a drive-thru pharmacy, adjoining wine and spirits shop and 476 parking spaces. Other tenants at the property — which features two four-story buildings, a restaurant space and three additional buildings — include Estepp’s Shell, Jimmy Johns, Hot Head Burritos, The UPS Store, Tire Discounters and Starbucks Coffee.

Kansas City, Mo. — The Kansas City Current, a professional women’s soccer team famously part-owned by Brittany Mahomes, has unveiled plans for an $800 million mixed-use project on the Missouri riverfront in downtown Kansas City. The development follows completion of CPKC Stadium, a women’s soccer stadium that seats 11,500 people, in March. Tom Thumb to Open Store Within $120 Million Gateway Park Development in Texas

Sunnyvale, Texas — Tom Thumb will open a store in Sunnyvale, marking the “first major grocery store” in the area, according to the Town of Sunnyvale. Scheduled to open in late 2025, the grocer will join Gateway Park, a $124 million development that spans 240,000 square feet and features additional retail and restaurant space, as well as athletic facilities. The Sunnyvale Town Council has approved a $3 million economic incentive for the store’s development.
