Owner of Metro New Orleans Mall to Start $100 Million Redevelopment, Adding Office Space and Apartments

Metairie, La. — The Richards family, the longtime owner and operator of Clearview Shopping Center in Metairie, has unveiled plans to transform the 700,000-square-foot regional mall into a mixed-use destination. Located at 4436 Veterans Memorial Blvd., the new Clearview City Center sits on a 35-acre site approximately six miles northwest of downtown New Orleans. Heidenberg, Strategic Real Estate Open 22,000-Square-Foot Marshalls Within Potomac Marketplace in West Virginia

Ranson, W.Va. — Heidenberg Properties Group and Strategic Real Estate Partners have opened the 22,000-square-foot Marshalls at The Potomac Marketplace in Ranson. In March, the two companies announced they reached a leasing agreement with The TJX Cos., the parent company of Marshalls, and would need to immediately expand the center between Kohl’s and Petco. The center now spans 379,000 square feet following the expansion. Marshalls joins other retail tenants such as AT&T, Weis Markets, Kohl’s, Petco and The Home Depot.

Burlington, N.C. — The Morgan Cos. has purchased a former Sears department store at 309 Huffman Mill Road within Holly Hill Mall. Morgan Cos. intends to develop the 9.6-acre site into a shopping center anchored by a 48,387-square-foot Publix grocery store and 13,400 square feet of inline retail space. Prego’s Trattoria restaurant, located on an outparcel, is also part of the purchased property. Four Retailers Join Mixed-Use Fenton Development Near Raleigh

Cary, N.C. — Hines, Columbia Development and USAA Real Estate have signed four retailers to join the lineup at Fenton in Cary. Cosmetic retailer Sephora will occupy 4,400 square feet, women’s clothing retailer Free People will occupy 4,000 square feet and Bailey’s Fine Jewelry will occupy 5,000 square feet. Millbrae, Calif. — A partnership between Republic Urban Properties and Principal Real Estate Investors is preparing to break ground on a transit-oriented, mixed-use project named Gateway at Millbrae Station in Millbrae, a suburb just south of San Francisco. Located at the Millbrae Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) station, the development will comprise 157,000 square feet of office space, 320 market-rate apartments, 80 affordable housing units, a 164-room hotel, 400 homes and 44,000 square feet of retail. Chicago — Starbucks Coffee Co. has opened its Reserve Roastery in downtown Chicago. The 35,000-square-foot, five-story roastery opened to the public Friday, Nov. 15 and is the largest Starbucks location. The store is located in the Magnificent Mile in a space formerly occupied by Crate & Barrel. All of the coffee beans roasted at the facility are served and sold on site. Kansas City, Mo. — Linwood Investors LLC has broken ground on its $8 million redevelopment of Linwood Square, a blighted retail strip center in the Linwood-Prospect corridor on Kansas City’s east side. The project complements the redevelopment of the Linwood Shopping Center, which the company completed in 2017. Linwood Square is a 55,000-square-foot property originally built in 1992. Express Kitchens to Open Eight Stores, Showrooms Near Boston in 2020

Boston — Kitchen remodeling firm Express Kitchens plans to significantly increase its Massachusetts footprint in 2020 by opening three new retail stores and five new showrooms in and around the Boston area. Express Kitchens will open stores in the suburbs of Lynn, Watertown, Dedham, Peabody, Reading, Medford, Brockton and Weymouth. Showrooms will display a range of kitchens, cabinets and countertops, which customers will be able to purchase for their homes in-store or from the company’s website.
