Chicago — Novak Construction has finished work on a 30,000-square-foot Whole Foods Market at the City Hyde Park development. The store, located at 5118 S. Lake Park Ave., features a secret society theme and pays homage to the University of Chicago. The store features a dark blue and brass color scheme and other décor related to the university. The project also included installing a mechanical system and an underground parking garage. Jeanne Gang designed the City Hyde Park project.
Boston — National Real Estate Advisors and The HYM Investment Group have unveiled plans to redevelop the Government Center Garage into Bulfinch Crossing, a six-building, 2.9 million-square-foot mixed-use development in Boston’s Bulfinch Triangle.
Fremont, Calif. — A public/private partnership between the City of Fremont, TMG Partners, SARES-REGIS Group and Summerhill Homes has broken ground on Locale @ State Street, a mixed-use development located in the San Francisco suburb of Fremont.
Washington, D.C. — The JBG Cos. and Malrite Co. are working together to develop a new and expanded International Spy Museum at L’Enfant Plaza in Washington, D.C.
Maitland, Fla. — The Allen Morris Co. has begun construction on Maitland City Centre, a $68 million mixed-use development in Maitland, roughly 10 miles north of Orlando.
Murfreesboro, Tenn. — Sterling Organization has signed a lease with Carmike Cinemas to open a new nine-screen, 47,000-square-foot Ovation Cinema Grill at Stones River Mall, a 594,588-square-foot enclosed regional mall located in the Nashville suburb of Murfreesboro.
New York City — Macerich has announced that Primark and Zara will be opening as part of a redevelopment at Kings Plaza, a 1.1 million-square-foot enclosed mall located in the New York City borough of Brooklyn.
Beaumont, Texas — Baker Katz has redeveloped a fully leased retail site located in Beaumont.
Rochester, N.Y. — WinnDevelopment and GDD Properties, in a public-private partnership with New York State, have broken ground on the $200 million redevelopment of The Sibley Building, located at the intersection of East Avenue and East Main Street in downtown Rochester.
Eldersburg, Md. — Black Oak Associates has completed the $60 million redevelopment of Eldersburg Commons, a 300,000-square-foot shopping center formerly known as Carrolltown Mall.
