Hazlet, N.J. — Onyx Equities and Siguler Guff & Co. have signed leases with three new tenants at Hazlet Town Center, a 200,000-square-foot shopping center located in Hazlet, roughly 40 miles outside New York City. Totaling 9,614 square feet, the new leases bring the property — which the two companies acquired as a joint venture in 2016 — to 92 percent occupancy. Houston — Six new tenants will join Montrose Collective, a mixed-use development located in Houston. Concepts coming to the property include restaurants Graffiti Raw and Picnik — opening this month and in the spring, respectively — as well as four fitness and beauty tenants. SISU, a med spa, will open in February. Studio BE, Glosslab and Skin Laundry will also open locations this year. Montrose Collective, which currently features 15 retailers and five restaurants, is 97 percent leased with full occupancy expected by the end of 2023.
Huntington, N.Y. — Four new tenants are set to open at Huntington Shopping Center, a 21-acre retail center located on Long Island. Federal Realty Investment Trust has arranged leases with The Container Store, Burger Village, Love Sac and Just Salad as part of a $75 million redevelopment currently underway at the property. The Container Store will occupy 15,676 square feet adjacent to Whole Foods Market, which is under construction. Houston — Enson Market, an Asian grocery concept, will open a 100,000-square-foot store in North Houston. The site is located within a 200,000-square-foot vacant shopping center. An affiliate of the company, an entity doing business as Pacific Square of FM LLC, purchased the center with plans to implement capital improvements and lease the remaining 100,000 square feet. Ryan Neyland of Davis Commercial Real Estate represented the seller, Copper Leaf LLC, in the transaction. Casey Ward of CRW Commercial represented the buyer.
New York City — Barnes & Noble will open more than 30 new stores next year, the company has announced. A location at Atlantic Avenue in Brooklyn is scheduled to be the first of the new bookstores in 2023. In 2022, the company opened more new locations than it had in any year since 2009. Barnes & Noble attributes the growth to a “reading renaissance.”
New York City — Whole Foods Market will open a 42,000-square-foot store in the One Wall Street building at 66 Broadway in New York City. Opening Jan. 11, the location will include a specialty cheesemaker and artisan department, seafood counter, meat counter, prepared foods section, full-service coffee bar, bakery and an extensive selection of craft beers. The store will also feature over 1,000 local items curated by John Lawson of Whole Foods and an Art Deco-inspired design.
Houston — Midway has arranged leases with six tenants at CITYCENTRE, a mixed-use development located in Houston featuring shopping, dining, office and entertainment space. The new leases total 25,000 square feet and bring the retail space at the center to 90 percent occupancy. Restaurant Daily Gather, Nike Live, Epic-Cycles bicycle shop, Tempur-Pedic and western brand Tecovas opened at the center this year. Orthodontists Smile Doctors will also open a location at the property soon.
Columbus, Ohio — 10 new tenants are set to open at Easton Town Center, a retail center located in Columbus, has been joined by 10 new retailers. New openings will include lifestyle brand Parachute, Amazon Style, luxury footwear brand FREEBIRD, bridal shop Vow’d, women’s clothing retailer Garage, lab-grown diamond brand Clean Origin, Dos Hermanos restaurant, alpaca-fleece apparel store Pacas, Wanderlust Shops and Bliss in a Bottle, which sells chocolate-covered bottles of wine, beer and spirits. The new tenants include Daily Thread, which will open stores at 9 locations; Uniqlo, which will open at Cherry Hill Mall in New Jersey; Carter’s, which will lease space at Springfield Town Center in Virginia; Lovisa, which will occupy space at five additional centers; and Windsor Fashions, which will open at three locations.
Wheeling, Ill. — Structured Development and Burnt City Brewing have opened a second District Brew Yards location in the Chicago suburb of Wheeling.
